Page 102 of Kissed By Her

She looked down at the tattoo, which was a little fuzzy around the edges, I had to admit.

“I like it,” I said, wiggling down and putting a kiss right on the tattoo. “Was your mom mad?”

“She went nuclear. It was worth it,” she said with a grin.

Her stomach rumbled and her face went red.

“Snack time?” I asked. “It’s never too late for snacks.”

“Got any brownies?” she asked as she followed me into the kitchen.

“Are we allowed to eat brownies without an apology attached to them?” I asked.

“We can do whatever the fuck we want, babe,” I said, opening one of my cabinets and pulling out a box of brownie mix. “They won’t be slutty, but we can eat them fresh out of the oven.”

Eating warm brownies in bed after amazing sex? Life didn’t get better than that.

Honor asked if she could help me, so I had her line the baking dish with parchment and hold it while I poured the batter in and smoothed it out.

It went into the oven and I licked the spoon I’d used to mix.

“Don’t tell the twins that I’m doing this. I’ve put the fear in them about eating raw batter and I don’t want to undo that,” I said.

“I don’t really foresee a situation where it’s going to come up, but I promise,” she said.

“Speaking of the twins, do you hate them?” I asked. Honor pushed her still-damp hair back from her face.

“No, I don’t hate them. I know why you think that. I just don’t really know what to do with children. I don’t know what to talk about with them. What’s appropriate? They’re strangers to me,” she said.

“We can work with that. They just started getting into comics, and if you talk about movies, you’ll probably be a hit. I know they pranked you a bunch of times, but they really are good kids. Mostly.”

I had to add that last little bit.

“I suppose,” Honor said.

“They’re just kids. Until two years ago they both believed in Santa. They’re relatively harmless, and once you get to know them, they’re great.”

I had to stop myself from gushing too much about them.

“Since my mother didn’t like me to play with other kids, I only really played and hung out with Lark, and she was…Lark.”

I nodded. Lark wasn’t like anyone I’d ever met and that was saying something.

“We’ll take it small doses. Before you know it, they’ll be begging to steal your clothes.”

Honor gave me a horrified look. “They can’t have any of my clothes.”

“They wouldn’t fit into them for a few years anyway, calm down,” I said, pulling out two glasses for water.

“Do you want some tea or something?” I asked.

“I’d love some tea,” she said, so I filled up the kettle and got out cups for us.

“I’m not scared of them,” Honor said about the twins.

“I know,” I said, trying to reassure her. She was absolutely scared of them, but that was okay.

I’d have a talk with them and tell them to be nice to her.
