Page 61 of Kissed By Her

“This is ridiculous,” she said, but then she kissed her thumb.

“And now we seal it,” I said, reaching my thumb out and pressing it against hers.

“You spend too much time around children,” Honor said.

“Yes, I do. It’s literally my job,” I said. “Occupational hazard.” I shook the wrist with the bracelet that the twins had made me.

She tried not to smile and failed.

“Glad we got that out of the way. Oh, and I’m pretty sure that Mark is still in love with Sadie and I’m still rooting for their second-chance romance,” I said.

Honor frowned. “Yeah, I know. He’s a really good man, though. I could have loved him.”

“I get it. He’s easy to love. But he’s not for you to love. His heart’s already taken.”

She sighed and rubbed her forehead again.

“That makes sense. You couldn’t have told me that a few months ago?”

Was she serious?

“I tried! You wouldn’t listen to me!”

Honor laughed and then let out a groaning sound. “I guess I picked the wrong Mark, literally.”

“You should probably stop looking at men like they’re going to save you. Save yourself, Honor. Be independent.”

“I’d love to. But I’m putting my sister through college. She depends on me,” she said. “Our mother won’t help her because she doesn’t believe in college.”

“I don’t think your sister would want you to marry a man you don’t love just to make sure she doesn’t have student loan debt. I know I’d kill Liam if he tried to do something like that.” I reached out and rubbed her arm.

“I want her life to be better,” Honor said.

“Christ, do I get that. I really do.” Honor and I had more in common than I’d ever thought.

“Being an older sister isn’t for wimps,” I said.

Honor shook her head. “No, it’s not.”

I smiled at her. “Want to make out again?”

She let out a startled laugh. “How could I resist when you put it that way?”

“Get over here,” I said, crooking my finger at her.

Honorand I did a lot of kissing that night. My lips got quite a workout, and I could tell they were a little swollen when I kissed her goodnight.

“You sure you don’t want me to walk you to your car?” I asked her for the third time.

“No, I’m a big girl and I can do it. I keep a knife in my purse,” she said, pulling it out and showing me.

“Jesus. I won’t mess with you,” I said. Honor holding a knife was hot too. Or maybe it was everything she did.

“Good,” she said, and kissed me again. “Thanks for the brownies, even if they weren’t slutty.”

“You’re welcome.”
