Page 72 of Kissed By Her

I sighed. “Still no.”

Honor huffed out an offended noise.

“It’s a really good lobster roll,” I said, brushing my thumb back and forth on her chin.

“That doesn’t say much for my kissing skills, does it?” she said, staring into my eyes. Honor had so much intensity and it should probably scare me, but it only made my heart race.

“Your kissing skills are excellent. I’d give them five stars out of five.”

Honor chuckled and stepped away. “If I can’t have some of your lobster roll, I guess I’ll just go home and have dinner at my place. It’s Lark’s turn to cook.”

“Lark?” I asked.

“My sister.” I hadn’t heard her name until now. “I’m sure you’ll meet her at some point. I haven’t exactly told her about you, but she knows that something is going on. She’s being very smug about it. She always said that one day I was going to meet someone that would ruin all my plans.”

“Is she smug or satisfied?” I asked her.

Honor shook her head. “It doesn’t matter. Either way, she’s annoying.”

We laughed and she kissed me a few more times before heading back to her place so Mark didn’t see her car when he got back.

I puttered around the house and enjoyed the silence until Mark came in with our food.

“So, they actually gave me an extra by accident,” he said.

“If you don’t want it, I’ll take it,” I said. I could give it to Honor after all.

“Sure, it’s yours,” Mark said, handing me the bag.

“Thanks, boss,” I said, and he cringed.

“Don’t call me that,” he said.

I sentHonor a text as soon as I got back to the guest house that I did have a lobster roll for her and sent a picture of it sitting on a plate.

It must be my lucky night. Be there in a few, she sent.

Figuring I had already said I’d share, I put some onion rings on her plate as well and grabbed some sauce if she wanted it.

I did a quick tidy and then Honor was knocking on my door.

I opened it and found her smiling and wearing the jeans from book club, and a soft t-shirt with a faded design and…

“Hold on, are those sneakers?” I asked. Designer sneakers, but still.

“Like them?” Honor said, holding out her foot and looking down at it.

“They’re cute,” I said. She looked so casual it was throwing me off. So many sides to Honor Conroy.

“Your lobster roll,” I said, holding the plate out to her. “And there’s sauce or whatever for the onion rings.”

She selected ranch dressing and added some to her plate. I stuck with ketchup.

We both grabbed drinks from the fridge and took out spots on the couch.

“My sister wants to meet you and I had to actually stop her from coming over with me,” Honor said, laying a napkin on her lap. Lobster rolls could be a mess to eat.
