It was a fun afternoon, and I was in a good mood when I got back to Mark’s.

“I’m feeling like a lobster roll from Mulligan’s for dinner,” Mark said from the kitchen. He had his phone in his hands, probably putting in the order. He’d have to go and pick it up, but it was absolutely worth it.

“If you don’t mind, that sounds great,” I said. “With onion rings.”

Mark smiled. “Of course.”

“I’m going to head out,” Honor said, emerging from the bathroom. She had her bag over her shoulder. I’d judged her for having it before I’d known that her ex had bought it for her as a surprise and it was actually used. So many of my assumptions about her had been completely wrong.

“Thanks for your work on that contract today. I know it wasn’t easy,” Mark said, shaking his head. “Why people don’t keep multiple copies in multiple places is beyond me. No wonder their company is in shambles.”

“Thanks, it was no problem,” Honor said and then glanced at me as Mark was occupied with his phone again.

Meet me outside, I mouthed at Honor. She couldn’t go home until I’d kissed her at least once.

What?she mouthed back.

Meet. Me. Outside, I said, trying to enunciate.

“Did you say something?” Mark asked, looking up.

“Nope,” I said, and decided to use my phone to send a message.

Meet me outside,I sent and heard the sound of Honor’s phone.

“Oh,” she said, realizing what I’d said. “Well, I’m going to get going.”

“I’ve got to go grab the lobster rolls,” Mark said. “Be back in a while.”

He left without another word and as soon as I heard the sound of his car pulling out of the driveway, I let out a breath.

“Finally,” I said, going over to Honor as she crossed the room to get to me.

“Thinking about you made me almost mess up so many things today,” she said as I touched her face.

“Same. The twins called me on it.”

“Come here,” she said, and then her mouth was on mine and my blood was zinging in my veins.

I sighed into her mouth with relief and she laughed in her throat.

“Miss me?” she said between kisses.

“Maybe a little bit,” I said, my fingers pulling on her dress to pull her closer to me.

“You can come share some onion rings with me if you want. I’m not sharing my lobster roll, though,” I said.

Honor smiled. “Oh, so you don’t like me enough to share your lobster roll?”

“Sorry,” I said.

She narrowed her eyes. “What about if I do this?” she asked and leaned in to kiss me again, almost knocking me off-balance. Her tongue was aggressive, slicking its way into my mouth and making me completely melt at her touch.

I might have been the older one, but when it came to kissing, Honor took control and I was fine with letting her have it.

My body sunk into hers and I didn’t even know what we’d even been talking about until I opened my eyes and she asked me if she could have some of my lobster roll as she stroked my neck with one hand.
