“You can be over me. Come on up and sit on my face, love,” I said, smacking her ass. She yelped.

“That’s not the kind of ‘over’ I was talking about, Syd,” she said.

“Yes, but that’s the more fun kind of over,” I said, sitting up and then leaning down to kiss her. “Come on, let’s go get clean and then dirty and then clean again.”

Lark let out a little moan as I kissed her. “We should finish talking about this.”

“Later,” I said. “It’s time for me to get you off again.”

She didn’t argue with me.

Eventually both ourstomachs were growling, and we’d run out of hot water, so we got out of the shower and into comfortable pajamas.

“I wish we could order delivery,” Lark said. “That’s one thing I miss about college. Food delivery.”

“I know. I keep asking Nick if he’d do limited delivery, but he always tells me it wouldn’t work.”

Lark searched through the cupboards while I checked the fridge and freezer.

“I have a lasagna in here that we can throw in the oven,” I said, pulling the box out.

“Works for me,” she said.

Layne would have been horrified to see the box of premade lasagna, but she wasn’t here to judge me.

I set the oven to preheat and pulled the tray out of the box. “I must have bought this when it was on sale.”

Lark came up behind me and put her arms around my waist, pressing her face into my spine.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“You smell really good right now,” she said, her voice muffled.

“Thanks?” I said. She rubbed her face into my back and I just…let her. I leaned back and felt her warm body on mine.

“You smell really good all the time,” I said, shoving the lasagna in the oven.

“Thanks,” she said.

I turned around and found her looking at me, her hair damp, her cheeks pink. I reached for her face and kissed her.

“What was that for?”

I shrugged. “I needed to kiss you.”

She grinned at me and pulled me closer with her hands on my hips.

We didn’t even botherto get out two plates for the lasagna. I sliced a huge piece and threw it on one plate and we sat on the couch with it like goblins. Clementine had to come and investigate, but left because, unlike another orange cat, lasagna wasn’t his thing.

Lark and I lay on the couch with our plate and our legs wrapped around each other.

I couldn’t remember the last time I’d been this relaxed. It had been a while.

We finished all the episodes of our show and then Lark went searching with the remote for something new.
