‘I feel blessed.’ I pressed my palms together, thanking all heavens I met him.

But all jokes aside, what he did was pretty amazing.

‘You should feel blessed.’ He let out a laugh. ‘I never saw myself before as the type who would ever come here. Most girls in college only want dick. They skip this part. But now that I’m here, I kinda like it. Things seem different seen from this place.’

‘Different how?’

‘Different as in this.’ He leaned his body over mine, gliding his hand against my jawline and bringing my lips closer to his in incredibly slow motion. It was like he wasn’t doing it fast enough, and my mouth was suffering from loneliness for a lifetime.

He was really setting the grounds for something new, stopping time to savor each swirl of my tongue the same way all my senses were slowly blooming back to life.

With visible effort on his side, he tried not to rush things, although I could feel his internal fight reaching a heightening level with each composed kiss.

Surprisingly, he finally managed to find himself a sensual rhythm in which his lips danced with mine while one of his hands was tangled in my hair, playing with a few rebellious curls. That should’ve been perfect. It should have been enough. The only problem was thatIwas the one that couldn’t keep composed anymore. Cole was turning into everything I wanted him to be. And that was awakening a vicious craving to feel him much closer than he decided to let me in those moments.

I kissed him back, fiercer, but without breaking the spell. Just chewed on his bottom lip, calling all demons within him to come out and play. I wanted him in every way possible, but I didn’t want to be the one to ask. And my plan seemed to be functioning perfectly. With each purr, his hands were clenching harder on my waist, bringing me closer to his body to take advantage of even the last inch of physical contact.

He was becoming restless, and although I knew he was trying to fight it, his urges were taking control of any rational thinking.

‘We need to slow down, Mouse, before I can’t go back.’ Cole spoke with the exhaustion of a man who had reached the end of the line.

‘Is that what you want?’ I asked, stopping to look at him.

‘You know what I want. You’re fucking beautiful, and if it were up to me, you would be on top of me in the driver’s seat. But I’m trying to behave, and you’re complicating things.’

‘Cole, what if I would let you in on a dark secret?’

‘Do tell.’

‘I don’t want you to behave.’

Chapter 5

Icouldn’t tell how long it took us to get back to Cole’s mansion, but it seemed we traveled there with lightning speed. Despite my nagging, streetlights were invented for anyone else except us, and he couldn’t care less, especially since he seemed to be craving a moment of privacy for too long.

In our crazed entanglement of limbs, we almost fell over a statue. Fortunately, his agility didn’t let it crash on the ground and wake up the whole house. Not that we hadn’t already woken them up with Cole juggling the keys in the front door for what seemed to be an hour.

‘Why didn’t we go back to Ferris’s mansion?’ I was a little surprised that he didn’t want to return to the estate, especially since he’s been living there for the past month.

‘There are too many people in that house. I didn’t want to risk running into someone and them interfering with our evening. Besides, my room is soundproof. I used to play the guitar.’ The image he was painting made me laugh. I’d seen a guitar in his room, but I could never picture him actually using it.

‘I want to hear you play it,’ I whispered as he decided to lift me on his waist and carry me to his bedroom.

‘AndI want to hear you scream. Guess which one of us is going to get his wish tonight.’ He lustfully crashed his lips on mine before I got a chance to speak another word. Not that I had much to say anyway since he was probably foreseeing things right.

In the past, every time Cole used to kiss me, it felt devious. It wasn’t just passion. It was as if he was always planning each step and what he was going to do to me next. I loved that tricky sparkle in his eyes, but now... now it was beautiful madness and uncontrolled spontaneity. He wasn’t trying to guide the events, just let everything flow with the beats of our hearts.

By this time, I should have felt that tremble settling in, questioning myself what and why am I doing this. Thoughthis time,it was so much different than before. It was lust and desire igniting with heaved heat, yet it didn’t need me to melt into the ground but hold on to him, embracing what was coming next.

We only stopped in front of his room, where instead of breaking the door open, he set me back on my feet, his forehead falling to rest on mine under my confused gaze as a deep groan escaped his throat. ‘Fuck it, Bea. I promised myself I wouldn’t do this today. Be a good girl and tell me to calm down. I swear I’ll listen.’ He was letting the burden of the decision fall on my shoulders, and that was making me want him even more.

He had changed in the last month. Willingly or not, he had been proving that to me ever since our return from Emerald City.

If I was to keep to my plan, I would have tormented him a little longer. But in reality, I was only tormenting myself as every cell within me was yearning to feel him vibrating against my skin.

My mouth couldn’t open to say the words that would get him to stop; instead, it searched for his own, letting my silent answer propel us into his bedroom.

I couldn’t see a thing, but I could hear objects falling all around us. That was until I found myself up on his dresser as the trip to the bed seemed to be a too-long journey.
