Brax didn’t get to any kind ofkissing. Still, I couldn’t bring myself to shatter the electrifying mood. I was probably as fucked up as Cole was. But I was also living for every twisted moment.
Surprisingly, he managed to turn my spirit a hundred eighty degrees around, only being his devious self.
‘How about here?’ he continued, nibbling on the silky skin beneath my breasts, testing each level of arousal.
‘Mmmm,’ was all I could say, willingly falling prey to his dark fantasies.
Yet fate didn’t seem to agree with our moment of intimacy. Something snapped the spell for an instant.
A vibrating sound as my phone was coming to life on the nightstand.
I ignored it at first.
Then another buzz broke the silence.

What if it was Brax?
I needed to know. Maybe he came up with a resolution sooner than I thought?
‘Cole...’ I pleaded with him to slow down so I could reach the phone, but he was much more focused on bringing my body to a boiling point than on any kind of socializing.
I had no choice but to crawl between shivers of incoming ecstasy in a thwarted attempt to get to my smartphone.
‘This might be important,’ I tried once again, though my words seemed to reach anyone except him.
I managed to stretch out to the nightstand only when he decided my pants had to disappear. With a hasty movement, he tried to remove the unwanted piece of clothing. His grip loosened, and I managed to lurch across and reach my phone.
‘Where do you think you’re going?’ He pulled me back into his arms, keeping me captive to face the sheets as he had sunk his teeth into my posterior.
‘Ouchhh.’ His revenge for my disobedience hurt yet excited me at the same time. The sensation was so intense that I was having trouble even remembering the access code for the smartphone.
‘That was for trying to escape me. And this is... Well, this is just for fun.’ He sunk his teeth again, biting on my other cheek until a heated coil flashed straight to my core.
It was going to be a long night.

Another coil managed to sneak its way down my spine. Unfortunately, this one had nothing to do with Cole.
The texts had just shown up on the display of my phone, making everything cease around me.

The letters began randomly spinning in front of my eyes, making Cole’s lips dissipate somewhere else in the universe.
It was just me and dreaded memories, fighting to get away from the monsters that were coming to haunt me.
I had no idea who wrote the texts. It could have been anyone, but the governor’s image appeared in front of my eyes once again.
Stiff as a corpse— that’s the only way a person could have described me in those moments. My body went rigid as my sickened heart ceased to function for a second. I was far away from the warm bed or from Cole’s arms. I was just wandering to a distant place where the strength of the blows was making my body squirm with unbearable pain.
‘Bea! Bea!’ Cole was roaring while securing my temples between his large palms in an attempt to capture my attention.
