Bea was getting on my nerves, but arriving at the party alone would have screwed up my plans.

To her luck, she wised up and listened to what else I had to say about the mission, without continuing to do my head in. That kept her away from the rage of my gun — at least for a while.

The rest of the drive there was quiet, mostly because I ignored her, focusing on some emails but without actually managing to get any work done. Despite appearances, I was much more stressed than I would ever want to admit. That level of tension pushed me to search for a way to loosen up the second we arrived at the party.

I was afraid the restlessness sprawling through my mind was beginning to show. It seemed impossible to hide it any longer, but I could blame it on lust.

‘There are so many people here.’ I heard Bea whisper as we entered the building. She was just moments away from freaking out on me.

And I couldn’t have the both of us stressed out.

‘You only have to focus on one person. Me.’ I was raising the stakes, especially since the situation required it. We were posing as a couple, so why not act as one?

In need of a drink, I escorted her to the bar. Maybe I was paranoid, but I was starting to believe that all eyes were on me.

Act casual.I kept repeating that thought although mycasualcould be considered as something out of the ordinary. I wasn’t exactly the relationship type and having a girlfriend, even a fake one, was striking me as totally awkward.

But we did need to pose as the perfect couple, and strangely enough she wasn’t making things as difficult as I believed. I found her quite amusing, especially since she just shocked the bartender with her unusual request —water.I bet he never heard that one before, especially since the degrees displayed on the wall behind him were pointing him out to be a wizard of the drinks.

‘Slow down. You wouldn’t want to get too drunk,’ I smiled, unable to keep that remark to myself.

My attempt of acting civilized was quickly observed by my date. ‘Your mood seems to have improved.’

‘You acted more... How should I put it... Docile? That’s a quality I appreciate.’ I couldn’t deny that her clinging to my arm in need of protection wasn’t helping with the lost deer vibe.

While the things that came out of her mouth could easily help me with a hard-on. ‘I bet I would look really pretty on a leash.’ She was trying to be sarcastic, although the image she just described was sending me to a whole different place.

‘If you behave, maybe I’ll consider putting one on you,’ I downed my drink, trying not to let the image of her being dressed in the tiniest of outfits change the course of the evening.

I admitted I needed a distraction. However, the dirty thoughts going through my mind could bring a cancelation of our plan.

And I couldn’t afford that.

I needed to go on.

But who was to say that my coverup operation couldn’t come with benefits?

Taking advantage of her stunned look, I drew an arm over her petite waist and brought her inches away from my lips.

‘What do you think you’re doing?’ her voice trembled with hindered lust, looking up at me.

I put off offering her an explanation until I made room between the curtain of her hair, to do something I was yearning for ever since I saw her. I draped my lips over the base of her neck, right above her collarbone, letting them just brush the newly goosebumped skin. ‘We’re supposed to be a couple. What’s so hard to figure out? The man I’m looking for just went upstairs. I need to get there without looking suspicious.Youwill get me there. It will look like things are getting heated up between us, and we’re searching for privacy.’

I wascoveringmy true intentions with thecoverupitself. My lips captured hers, getting them to part and properly welcome me into her world.

I wasn’t a fucking fifteen-year-old and it wasn’t that often that I was sharing kisses with the female presences in my life. So, if I was going to do it, then I had to do it right. Maybe toorightsince I was letting myself be carried away, quickly escalating to the point of no return. I wasn’t controlling the kiss any longer. The needs of my body were substituting my rational thinking, erasing any kind of logic and replacing it with only the deafening pulse of my heart.

I didn’t even know what was I so excited about. It must have been the adrenaline of what I needed to do next that was mixing and intensifying all sensations at once.

‘Come,’ I whispered, trying to get myself on the right track again.

I guided her to the base of the stairs, stealing another kiss.

Just for the audience. That’s what I told myself. The same waymy hands slipping over her round asshappened just for the performance. Too bad no one told that to my dick since it was unashamedly responding to the closeness of her body, asking for so much more than the seconds I could spare at a time like that.

I had to admit, we shared something more than the mission that night. We were sharing a wrecking attraction. The kind that destroys everything in its path. My hopes were it would destroy my bed as soon as I would settle scores at the party.

Despite the storm brewing between us, I could feel her slowly slipping away fromus, like reality was pressing down too heavily on her shoulders.
