“What?” I frown, wondering who she is talking about.

“The attendant.” She smiles but her expression is tense. I shrug because I barely noticed the woman she is talking about, much less what Aurora thinks she saw.

Is she showing signs of jealousy? Now that is useful.

“It doesn’t matter to me,” I tell her.

“I know,” she murmurs. I smirk at her, tempted to pull her strings a little.

“Perhaps I’ll pay more attention to her on the way home,” I say. She goes silent.

The drive is uneventful till we reach my private beach property. Her eyes are wide as we pull up to the driveway.

“Let me guess; you own this too,” Aurora says as the car comes to a halt in front of the sprawling house.

I shrug. What does she expect? Things like this are necessary for me. The private jet is effective for my trips. The beach house is for when I come to Miami on business. She gives a light snort, and I glance at her.

“Rich men have a way of spending on frivolous things,” she says, her lip curling.

“What do you suggest I do? Rent a place for us to stay during our time here?” I ask.

“I guess it’s none of my business,” she mutters.

She’s gone tense since we left the airport, and I wonder if this little display of contempt is because she’s still smarting over the flight attendant… or if she’s upset about these trappings of wealth.

Is money her motivation for whatever she’s doing?

Or is it because she was forced into this marriage?

Fuck, it’s probably none of that. She’s working for someone and they obviously want to take me down, along with the Bratva. I don’t know why it should even surprise me. Maybe I’d fooled myself into thinking things could be different. That I could have a woman in my life.

But the fact that she could compromise my whole organization over it?

That’s unacceptable.

“We’ll rest for tonight, but tomorrow, we will explore Miami,” I tell her.

“Okay,” she draws the word out, eyes wide as she continues to take in the sumptuous surroundings. The steel and chrome architecture is designed to provide sweeping views of the ocean.

“Come,” I say as I lead her inside the house.

“What about our bags? I haven’t seen them,” she looks around.

“They’ll be here soon,” I tell her as I lead her to the master bedroom. I watch as she takes in her environment. My eyes are only on her. Not only because she’s beautiful. I want to know how long she can keep up this pretense of wide-eyed innocence without breaking character. She’s obviously a professional.

“This is our room,” I say, showing her to the master bedroom.

“Ourroom?” Aurora stares at me with wide eyes.

“Yes, our room, Aurora,” I say as I hold her gaze. I know she must be wondering why we’re suddenly sharing a room when we didn’t do that back home.

I don’t give her time to protest as I lead her into the space dominated by a large four-poster bed.

“I don’t know if this is a good idea,” she says, her eyes drawn to the bed.

“Why isn’t it a good idea? We are husband and wife. We can share a room.” I have a sudden image of her spread out over that bed, bound tightly as I fuck her. When I hear her sharp intake of breath, I wonder if she’s having similar thoughts. I turn to the door. I need to leave before I give in to the urge.

“Settle in. Dinner will be ready soon. I need to get some work done,” I say as I make to leave.
