If I had a close connection with him, a mating bond, it made sense that my head would try to remind me of it. It was a sign everything they’d said was true, but with that thought, I trembled because I wasn’t sure how to deal with it when my emotions for them were absent.

Daxon took a seat next to me. “This town is something else,” he said, his hands on either side of him, holding onto the log beneath us while stretching his legs out, crossing them at the ankles. Was it wrong of me to admire how perfectly well his jeans fit him?

“I love it here. It feels like I’m in a fairy tale,” I answered, glancing over at the man who was studying me. I could tell he wrestled with the urge to move closer to me, to reach over and touch me. So, I appreciated that he contained himself. It was still so jarring and confusing to have him and Wilder in the village. To have a piece of my past right there, and yet none of my memories jogged.

“It reminds me a bit of our hometown, Amarok. It’s quaint, tucked away in the woods, and it has incredible community spirit.”

“Oh, are you the Alpha of Amarok?”

He nodded. “I am for half of the residents. I’m a Bitten breed of wolf, while Wilder is the Alpha of the other half of our town. He’s a Lycan breed.”

I must have looked confused because Daxon grinned.

“Let me explain. As a Bitten, I have the ability to change at will without the need of the moon, while Lycans are controlled by the moon’s lure and can only transform those three nights a month. There are two other species, but they aren’t that high up the food chain as a Bitten and Lycan. Wilder used be bound by the moon, but you changed him somehow, and he’s been able to shift when he wants lately.”

I raised an eyebrow, wondering how on earth I’d done something like that. He was definitely mistaken.

I loved listening to him speak though, to hear about where I’d once lived. “Which one am I?” My wolf stirred deep inside of me, and she seemed especially taken with Daxon as she made purring sounds for him, pressing up against my insides to get closer.

He twisted toward me, rubbing his fingers across the stubble on his jawline. “That’s the thing, we don’t know. You’re something different, sweetheart. Something special. Your wolf is the most stunning creature I’ve seen, and I love that you leave star dust with your paw prints.”

I shifted, blushing in the light of the fire. “I don’t hate that you think I’m special.”

He grinned sexily at me. “You are. And your wolf is also fierce and powerful. You’re a real kick-ass, and I’m completely smitten by you. You have no idea how incredible you are. How broken I was when we first met and how you saved me.”

My cheeks heated even more, and I glanced down to the lawn beneath my feet, at the small pink flower buds just starting to open. They reminded me of myself, with how shut off from the world I felt, and yet I had so much information inside me ready to be released.

“Tell me more,” I said, eagerly, completely turning around to face him. I loved the way he was staring at me like I was his world, like he’d do anything for me. Who didn’t like to be admired by a hot, gorgeous alpha? “What am I really like? What interests do I have?”

“You’re kind just like you are now, shy but strong, beautiful and captivating, and you wear your heart on your sleeve. You’ve also made a lot of friends back home, and let’s see, you love jogging. I remember when you first arrived at Amarok, you were determined to go jogging into the woods, even when you were warned about it being dangerous.”

I laughed. “So you’re saying I’m stubborn.”

“That’s an understatement.” He chuckled. “You also love pastries and coffee. We have a cafe back home where I can often find you enjoying one of their baked goods.”

I laughed. “That definitely sounds like me.”

Daxon shuffled closer to me, and the heat pouring from his body washed over me.

Finding my voice grew slightly harder. “Ares said you were my mate.”

“He’s right. I’d bitten you and marked you only days before you went missing. I’ll be honest with you, it’s been the worst time of my life to be away from you, and even now, keeping my distance is killing me. But don’t worry, I won’t push you until you’re ready.”

I felt hot and confused about how drawn I felt towards Daxon, when in my heart, I’d grown to love Ares with everything inside of me. It was all so painful to make sense of.

I glanced out around us where the townspeople were having fun, while night spread its wings across the land.

And that was when Ares and Wilder made their way towards me, two powerful men who again had me wondering how I managed to attract all three to me. I would have given anything to be with one of them, but three, I must be blessed by the Moon Goddess.

A few of the townspeople walked away from the area, and it was just me and the three of them around the log. Wilder kneeled in front of us while Ares took the empty seat at my side, his arm coiled around my back, our sides pressed close.

“Baby, I’ve been thinking about how to help you get your memories back for weeks now. I researched all the books in my library, spoken to many people who wield power, and it all comes down to the fact that a fae’s curse can’t be undone by another’s magic.”

“Oh,” I said, frowning. “So, what does that mean for us?”

“It means I may have another solution,” he continued, sliding his fingers along my chin and jaw, before turning my head to face him. “You and I are a blood match. Daxon has bitten you with his mark, and Wilder is so close to bonding you, that I wouldn’t be surprised if your two souls aren’t already intertwined.”

“Okay,” I said, leaning against him, curious about where he was going with this.
