She starts to ask me a million questions and I break in when I hear that ominous beeping that means I’m almost dead. Or at least my phone is.

“Please, Misty. My phone is beeping and it’s gonna die! Just send me an Uber out here or something. Tow truck, I don’t care.”

Then there’s nothing and I close my eyes, the tears working out of my lashes where they’re squeezed shut.

I breathe out a cleansing breath and pray that Misty understood me and that even now help is on the way. I tap my gloved hands on the steering wheel and wish that I was listening to Christmas music right now. I’d even suffer through that if it meant I was safe and my car hadn’t just breathed out its last little gasp of life.

Not even half an hour later, a dark car slides in behind my car. The early morning traffic has faded into such a trickle that I haven’t seen any other cars for five minutes. I don’t know where they all went but they sure disappeared fast.

But my sigh of relief quickly changes to a growl of annoyance as my nemesis steps out of his shiny black car.

“Oh shit no! No, she didn’t.”

But there’s no escaping the fact that Drake fucking Powers is walking up behind my car, that telltale smirk that makes me want to slap the hell out of him tilting his firm lips. His icy blue eyes sparkling with…something. I’m not sure what.

But when I roll my window down and he growls, “What the hell are you doing out here, Promise? This piece of shit looks like it should have been put out to pasture five years ago!”

My eyes close on the fury in his eyes and I mentally count to one hundred, hoping that by some Christmas miracle he will be gone when I open them and some friendly Uber driver will be standing there instead. I’m hallucinating this whole thing.

But when I hear him growl like a beast, I know that’s not what’s going to happen. Instead my eyes open and I shove at my door, satisfied when he backs away.

“Stop talking about my car like it’s a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe, Drake! She’s got feelings. And she gets me where I need to go.”

His furious eyes dart back and forth and he grunts. “Really? Because it doesn’t look like you’re at work. It looks like you’re stuck on the side of the road just waiting for an ax murderer or serial killer to pull up and get you.”

“And instead I got you! I’m not sure which would have been better!”

His mouth curls and he grabs onto my elbow, tugging me towards his car. “You’re slightly safer with me, princess. Now get in the damn car.”

And with a grimace I let him push me in and slam the door. He stalks back and gets my bags out of the car and I see him pause for just a second, his eyes darting to mine. My breath whooshes out as it feels like he’s seeing right through me. Right into my very soul.

But then the moment is gone and he’s stalking back to the car, tossing my things into the back seat before he slides into the buttery-soft leather of the front seats. Then he hits something on the dash and I feel heat moving on my backside.

I almost moan as the seats heat. Eyeing him like I’m staring at Satan, I feel some strange tug in my belly when he shoots me a sinful smile.

“Let’s go, princess. I’ve got places to be and so do you.”

I’m trapped for at least half an hour with the devil and for some reason…I’m not scared or unhappy.

I’m excited. What the hell is wrong with me today?

CHAPTER2

Drake

Ican’t stop looking at her. The red-haired menace that’s tugged at something deep in my soul as soon as she started working with me.

Squinting, I almost chuckle when she trips over a chair that she’s moved out of the way for a client to sit down and talk to her about a campaign.

Only Promise would trip over something she just moved.

Her slim black pencil skirt rides up gently when she bends over to move the chair again and I feel my mouth go dry. Damn, she’s got an amazing ass. And those pencil skirts that she wears fit her like a glove.

The petite redhead has a body like Jessica Rabbit. All curves and dips and just plain woman. She’s starred in every one of my dirty dreams since she started working for this company a couple of years ago. I can’t count the number of times I’ve jacked off to thoughts of her bent over my desk as I plowed into her from behind, that luscious ass of hers jiggling with every thrust into her softness.

She turns and that’s just as bad. She wears these silky blouses that button up but it feels like they’re barely able to hold her plump breasts in. Like one button pops and you’re going to get an eyeful.

I moan when she smiles and shakes the snow globe I left on her desk yesterday morning. It’s an office just like the one we’re in with a kissing couple out front caught in a blizzard of white when you shake it.
