I never even considered how much I’d love watching her shake the damn thing! Worth every penny of having it specially made.

And it’s only one of the surprises I’ve got in store for her this year.

But then again…I just got a big ass surprise from her too. When I looked in the backseat of her old beater that had obviously seen better days.

A kid’s jacket and tennis shoes. My sweet angel has a child. One that as far as I know the gossip mill at the office has never mentioned, although I really don’t pay much attention to that kind of stuff.

And it seems like they’re not in the best of circumstances. I wonder whether the child’s father is still in the picture. If he is, it kinda looks like he’s a freaking deadbeat. Like he’s not really sharing in the care of his child.

Or children! My heart jumps into my throat. What if she has more than one child? Holy shit! Am I up for an instant family? If I can finally get my dream girl’s attention.

Which is not easy. She’s turned me down every time I’ve asked. She’s turned every damn person in the office down as far as I know. Most of the office has nicknamed her the Ice Queen.

She’s just baby girl to me.

I glance down at my smartwatch and grin. Her next surprise is about to be delivered. I’m a little worried about this one since she’s a mother. But even a mother is still a woman. And I’ve seen the fire in her glorious hazel eyes.

Right on cue, the delivery man walks off the elevator and stops at the receptionist desk. She points in the direction of Promise’s office. He taps at her door and she stares at him in confusion, finally taking the package and giving him a tip.

Of course she did. The woman’s a damn saint.

Her smooth brow wrinkles in confusion and then she sits down at her desk and slowly, carefully opens the package. I hold my breath, on the edge of my seat. Will she love it?

Her head lifts quickly, her wild eyes staring around the room. Immediately I drop my eyes but I see her from my peripheral vision. I chuckle when she smiles and sets the card aside.

Secret Santa is a lot of fun this year and if it gets me what I want. Which is Promise, then I’m all for it.

This time I’ve sent her a little diary to write her dreams and fantasies in.

And do I hope that one of these days I get a look in that little book? Hell yeah!

Because if I have my wish, I’ll be every fantasy for her. She’ll never want for anything.

Her next client shows up and she quickly pushes the gift and card in a drawer but I see the smile on her face. She’s intrigued.

So am I. Because the more I get to know about the beautiful woman who’s been on my mind for years, the more I want to know. She’s not just a pretty face.

She’s everything.

CHAPTER3

Promise

“Hey, Promise! Mr. Alexander wants to see you in his office.”

I stand up and smooth my skirt out. “Thanks, Karen. I’ll be right there.”

Taking a deep breath, I close my eyes. Then I open them and walk down the hall, my heartbeat doubling when I see Drake’s tall form standing in front of Karen’s desk too.

Shit! Please don’t let him be here for the same meeting!

My prayers are not answered when Karen smiles at the both of us and says, “You both can go in now.”

Drake grins cheekily at her and blows her a kiss. My temper rises and I grind my teeth, glaring at his gorgeous face. His steely blue eyes dance as he waves me in front of him.

“After you, Princess.”

“Don’t call me that,” I grit between clenched teeth. “I’m not your anything.”
