I blink at her. “Did you just take the wolfsbane out of Everett’s blood and teleport it away from us?”

“Let’s just hope it worked,” Rachel says, as we all look back down at Everett.

He’s starting to wake up, his eyes are opening. He looks exhausted, but he’s alive.

I can hardly believe it. He’s not going to die.

Cheryl takes his hand in hers.

He looks up at her, and all of us hold our breath.

He’s not out of the woods until he can shift forms, and that’s only going to happen if the paralysis triggered by wolfsbane is broken. We watch, and we wait, and it’s excruciating.

Then, my mate gasps when Everett squeezes her hand. “It worked!”

I start to smile as Everett sits up with a groan. “It really worked.”

Rachel smiles at us. “Looks like it.”

I rush to Cheryl’s side and turn it into a group hug when Everett wraps an arm around her.

Everett scowls at me. “You’re touching the wound, Oscar.”

I move back. “Sorry. But you’re putting up with a real hug once that’s healed.”

He shakes his head at me. “I need to shift.”

Rachel stands up and steps back.

I take my mate’s hand as we stand up and move away to give him space.

Everett rips his shirt and shifts into his big, black-furred wolf, growls at us for a minute, and then shifts back into his human form. His very naked human form.

Rachel looks away quickly, but she definitely saw more than she wanted to.

Kind of how it goes when you hang around with shifters.

She’ll get over it.

Let’s just hope her mates never find out.

Everett stands up and pulls his jeans back on. His shirt is fucked so he leaves it where it is. He stuffs his feet into his sneakers, and sighs as he buttons his jeans. “I assume Mercer’s dead?”

“Our mate demolished that asshole,” I confirm.

“It’s kind of mess downstairs,” Cheryl admits. “And I definitely need a long, hot shower.”

“Let’s get the hell out of here,” Everett says. “I never want to set foot in this town again.”

Somehow, I doubt he’ll never have to come back here, but I’m glad we’re leaving.

It’s definitely time to go home.

Chapter One-Hundred-Five

Everett

It’shardtodescribehow good it feels to arrive back in the mansion after I thought I was dead. It might be because I’m in shock. Or it might be because I thought I was about to spend my afterlife with a pissed off ex-girlfriend I never wanted to see again.
