Shit. That poor kid. “You’re sure?”

She nods. “Honestly, considering everything that happened, I’m not surprised. She had a life she didn’t choose. Everyone in that town had it pretty rough.”

They really did. I tell myself Georgia running away is one problem off the pile.

We only have two requests to join our pack. We’ll have to check those out.

“What about all the Omegas Mercer sold. Are they looking into that?”

“I told them Cheryl has the ledger. She should make a copy so she can pass it over to them. They need it to start an investigation.”

“So, I guess I should go wake my mate,” I tell her. “We need to get this done so you can go home.”

“That would be awesome,” she says. “My mates are going a little crazy.”

She checks her phone and shows me the screen. Thirty-three unread messages.

“That’s just since we started talking.”

I’d be exactly the same if Cheryl had to do something alone.

I know I’d want to go with her, but I also know now that’s unrealistic.

We have four Omegas to take care of. We need to keep them safe.

“I’ll go get Cheryl.”

Chapter One-Hundred-Twelve

Cheryl

Idozeformaybefive minutes before I remember there are other things I should be doing today.

That’s why Everett got up. He knows we’ll need to meet with the Council of Witches.

I got a little distracted when we started to give Oscar his welcome home surprise.

I try to sit up and Noah won’t let me go. Oscar takes my hand in his, making it even harder to move.

“Sleep,” Noah whispers, stroking the side of my face.

“I’ve got work to do,” I protest.

“Your only work today is to hug me,” Oscar murmurs.

“I wish,” I tell him.

“Hey, I’m starting to think you’ve got a favorite,” Noah complains.

“The Omega’salwaysthe favorite. We’re special that way,” Oscar tells him.

“I wish I could spend all day in bed with you both,” I correct myself.

Oscar snorts, and Noah lets out an exasperated noise.

It’s too late to smooth things over. They’re already starting to drive each other crazy.

“I seriously need to get up,” I tell them. “Don’t force me to make it an order.”
