I catch a glimpse of his cum glistening on the ground as I’m lifted off Adrian’s cock. I guess I was a little too preoccupied to notice when Carter came. I’d bet anything it was when I did, though.

That’s his biggest trigger.

“I came a couple of times, actually,” he tells me as he heads back to the car in front of us.

“I noticed,” Adrian comments wryly, shaking one of his sneakers off.

Silas snorts. I snuggle up against him as he carries me back to the car.

“Will you stay in the backseat with me?” I ask him, knowing he’s the one who needs comforting.

Holding his hand helps me when I’m worried. I think it helps him, too.

“Of course,” he says. “But you can tell Carter.”

“Of course.”

Chapter Fifty-Six

Silas

Timeseemstospeedup being in the backseat with Rachel. She sits in the middle seat and leans against my arm, holding my hand as it rests on my leg. Having her close makes me feel calmer in the best kind of way. It’s not the same as Carter’s touch. That’s like a drug that hits my bloodstream when he touches me. This is something much softer, but no less potent.

Of course, our crazed escape into the woods probably helped, too.

My muscles are more relaxed. I’m not worrying about what’s going to happen next. All I’m thinking about is how lucky I am to have Rachel for my mate. She can make me feel so good just by sitting next to me, or giving me a smile, a real damn smile with a sparkle in her pretty eyes that’s just for me because she loves me.

She’s also out here with me for the same reason.

Heading toward a town she once told me she’d be happy to never return to.

“Approaching Midnight Valley,” Carter says from the front seat.

The radio’s been on low since we started driving again, and Adrian’s been driving a tiny little bit faster, clearly hoping to get the next day or so over and done with so we can come home.

“The residential area’s further in,” Adrian warns him.

“How much further?” Carter asks. “I’m past ready for some fun in a hidden diner booth.”

“We already had some fun in the woods,” Rachel speaks up to protest.

“Well, that was hours ago,” he complains.

Technically, he’s right. It was just over two hours ago.

“Quit complaining,” Adrian tells him. “Rachel already put up with you in the backseat for ages before you side-tracked us to the woods to service her heat.”

“Put up with!” he sputters.

Rachel puts her hand on his shoulder. “You know he’s kidding, Carter.”

She never just puts up with our excitable Omega. She’s not like me, or occasionally Adrian. Her patience is endless, and she genuinely loves spending time with him.

Carter takes her hand and kisses it. “I know, but still. Rude.”

“Okay hang on everyone, I’m not totally sure where this place is,” Adrian says, slowing down to a crawl as we come into a residential area.

“I know roughly where it should be,” Rachel says. “Go straight ahead and take the fourth turning on the right.”
