“Well, I won’t say I’m not glad,” Kelly says. “Dante exploded a vampire right before we got here, so I’m in serious need of a shower right now. We were attacked right before we were about to leave Harkness. That’s why we were late.”

“Well, I’m glad you got here in one piece, and I hope we get to meet again soon,” I tell her.

“Thanks. Me too,” she says, taking Dante’s free hand.

“I’ll see you later,” Amanda says to me, before Dante teleports them away.

I turn to Cheryl and hug her. “I hope next time we see each other, it’s for something fun.”

“That would be nice,” she tells me. “We’ll have to think of something.”

“Definitely.” I let her go.

She takes her Beta’s hand. “I hope the Council don’t keep you out too late.”

“I don’t think I’ll be sleeping tonight,” I admit. “So, it won’t matter if they do.”

“See you soon,” Cheryl says. “And Happy New Year!”

“You too,” I say with a smile as they teleport out.

“Are you ready to speak to them?” Adrian asks, his phone in his hand.

I know what he’s really asking, and I nod. “We tell them everything.”

Carter gasps. “You’re going to tell them about the kidnapping, and the cabin as well as all the crazy from inside that house. That’s what you mean by everything?”

I smile at his shock. “Yeah, it is.”

“Well, make sure you tell them I gave you the biggest O.”

I flush remembering the quick, impulsive sex I had with Silas that led into more.

“I think we’ll leave out the part where we had a little fun in the middle of all the crazy.”

I just hope Silas’ dad isn’t listening and inferring anything from this conversation.

Carter nods slowly. Clearly, he forgot we’re in mixed company.

Silas is standing a couple feet away with his father and sister, talking quietly.

Adrian puts the phone to his ear, turning away when the person on the order end picks up.

“Happy New Year, Rachel,” Carter says, hugging me close.

“What, no kiss?” I ask.

“I think I’ll save the kiss for later, when we can have a little more fun,” he murmurs, close to my ear.

He has a point, I guess. It’s probably just as well we took a chance when we had it before.

By the look on Adrian’s face when he gets off the phone, we’re in for a long night.

Chapter Seventy-Five

Silas

Theadrenalinerushofcommanding the demonic spirits is still working on me as I try to stand around on the street, letting my dead sister introduce me properly to our father.
