“What you can feel in your back is a full size pistol. You know the one, you filmed me using a couple of days ago and gave to the police.” The whisper in my ear makes my skin crawl. “I am sure you will believe me when I say I will not hesitate to use it, on you or anyone else that stands in my way. So, for the sake of all the other people and kids in this coffee shop, I suggested you do as I ask. Do you understand?” I nod, and take a deep breath trying not to panic.

For goodness sake. If this guy doesn’t kill me, Josh will for getting myself into this mess. I’m doubting he knows that I left since I haven’t had any calls from him. Well, that might not be a bad thing.

“Now. Leave your phone on the table and walk out of the front door. But do it slowly, so I can stay close behind you.” I stand slowly and look around at the other people enjoying their refreshments. None of them have noticed the situation I am in. I thought maybe I could alert them with my eyes or something, but nobody makes eye contact with me. We exit onto the street.

“Turn right.”

I walk down the pavement, again trying to catch the eye of someone for help, but nobody looks at me, or if they do, they don’t have a clue what’s going on. We reach a white transit van.

“Stop here.”

He opens the back doors and instructs me in. I get in the empty, fish smelling van and sit on the wet floor. The doors are shut, and I’m left in darkness.

The van’s engine starts, I feel it pull out into the London traffic. We are moving slowly, stopping and starting. I wonder whether to bang on the door and shout for help. Surely cars at the side of us will hear me. It’s just if he gets mad before anyone can help and goes on a shooting spree. Then again what is his plan with me anyway? He’s obviously furious I filmed him, and I’m the only witness. He’s not going to give me a slap on the wrist and let me go, is he? I’m mulling my options over when I hear the van door open, then close. The van is still moving slowly so I know it’s not him getting out. I can hear voices. I move to the back of the van and put my ear to the wall between us. The guy is talking to someone else in the van, this person is talking more quietly, they obviously know I am here. I listen.

“I don’t care who the f**k she is!”……….

“Not a f**king chance!”…………..

“Get lost Dad, I told you it’s never going to happen! …………. Get out!”

I hear the other voice quietly continue in protest.

“Shit! It’s f**king Tom Hardy here to ruin my day!”

The front doors to the van open again.

There’s shouting.

*BANG *BANG *BANG!!! That ear piercing sound of a gun I have heard far too many times.

I cover my ears and close my eyes. I think of good thoughts to take my mind off the situation.

It’s silent for a few minutes until a loud crack makes me jump. The back doors of the van open. It’s been so dark in here the light blinds my eyes.

It takes me a minute to focus and see, but I’d recognise that silhouette anywhere.

Josh.

I stand and look at him.

I realise the gunman was talking about Josh when he said Tom Hardy was here. He does have a look of him. He looks incredibly handsome standing there with the light beaming behind him, outlining his muscular frame.

His face however changes from relief to absolute fury.

Oh dear.

“Don’t just stand there, get out!”

I quickly walk to the open doors. Josh leans in and grabs me around the tops of my legs and throws me over his shoulder. He carries me like this to his car, puts me in the passenger seat and gets in to drive. As he sits down, he winces. I notice the jeans on his left leg are covered in blood.

“Josh your bleeding. Are you ok, do you want me to drive?”

“No! I’m fine! It’s just a flesh wound.” He’s so angry. Josh pulls out into the traffic, I notice that 2 cars pull out behind us.

“It’s ok they’re with us.”

I keep quiet as I’m not sure what to say, I don’t want to make Josh more angry. I contemplate thanking him for getting me out of there, but I think he may have a go at me for leaving the house. I just can’t deal with that right now, so I stare out of the window and I don’t say a word.
