She sat at the small table in the kitchen, drumming her fingers against the wood.

When the long hand of the clock on the blue wall hit eight, a black Town Car, one in the Accardis’ fleet, pulled up outside the house. Kylie came outside, not wearing the sexy red dress, but instead sneakers and a sweatshirt, locked the door behind her, and dipped within. The rest I was mostly present for. The package is accounted for and I know exactly what is inside.

The contents were no surprise to me.

The only thing I haven’t figured out yet is where Antonio got that guest passkey.

I have eyes and ears everywhere on this mountain, in this club, in the village. The Bachman name is gaining respect and I’ve been able to purchase a few of the men of our enemies as spies. I have no need to interrogate the girl.

I find it fun.

The one thing I don’t know is how she came to work for the Accardis in the first place. I’ll find out tonight. She comes toward me, twice as beautiful as I knew she’d be in the outfit I chose for her. Keisha left Kylie’s face natural, and I highly approve. Kylie wears my paddle around her waist. It gently swings against her hip as she walks.

My pants are suddenly tight, my cock demanding what he wants. It was his foolish idea that started this whole thing anyway. And I tried to… kiss her? It was bad enough I played with her in one of our rooms. What was I thinking? I never break my own code. I shift against my leather dining chair, seated at the head of the long table, my fingers gripping its wooden arm.

This girl has some kind of hold on me.

Kylie’s hazel eyes meet mine, a look caught somewhere between fear and desire. Her teeth sink into her full, glossy bottom lip. I can’t take my eyes off her as she slips into the open seat to my left. She leans down to adjust the fabric of her outfit and as she does, a lock of her silky hair falls over her shoulder, brushing against my forearm as it rests on the arm of the chair. Electricity races across my skin.

Why is my heart beating so hard, my breath tight in my chest?

Why is this girl having this effect on me? I’ve had at least a dozen beautiful women this month alone. But none have altered the rhythm of my heartbeat. I haven’t felt this… feeling… in a long time.

Ten years long.

I realize I’m so caught up in my reaction to her presence that I have yet to acknowledge her. I lift a crystal pitcher filled with ice and water, filling her glass myself. “Hello, Kylie. Thank you for joining me.”

“Thank you for having me.” She takes a small sip from the glass and shoots me a wary look. “You know my name?”

“I know quite a lot about you. You think I’d let you stay for dinner without a little background check?”

She grows uncomfortable, shifting in her seat. She gives a shrug. “There’s really not much to know. I told you. I’m a good girl.”

“To be determined, I’m afraid. From what I’ve seen tonight, I wouldn’t say you’re an angel.”

At the word angel, her eyes light, a tiny secret smile rising on her lips. I have to know what thought it is that makes her face illuminate like this. “What? What did I say?”

She shakes her head. “It’s nothing. I just… like angels.”

Again, like in the Garden of Eden when I had her cuffed to the wall, frustration fills me. She tells me nothing. Yet she had the audacity to come in here with Accardi trash and then dared to hide it by my precious Monstera. I feel anger well in me and I push it down.

Control.

“You don’t like to talk. You might change your mind after dinner.” I eye the little paddle hanging from her waist. “I have plans for you.”

“Is that so?” She lifts her glass to her lips, this time taking a gulp of the water.

“Yes. I want to play a little game with you.”

“A game?” Her skin is soft and as I touch her, her lips part, her eyelids grow heavy, but she keeps that burning gaze locked with mine.

“Would you like that?” My fingers dip beneath her chin.

“I don’t know. I know I shouldn’t want to, I shouldn’t even be here, but I am, aren’t I?”

“I’ll take that as a yes.”

The tension between us is almost visible, our heads bowed together exchanging heat-filled whispers. I feel the eyes of the room on me. I’ve never shown a woman this type of public attention. And I hadn’t planned on doing so.
