The classic Beauty champagne tower stands in the corner by the bar. Casual seating is offered, high top tables with two to four seats, each of their tops adorned with a glass vase holding a white and pink bouquet, a green satin ribbon tied around each vase.

Ashely appears at my side, handing me a sparkling water. “For the bride.”

“Ashely, this is so beautiful. I love it so much. I can’t thank you enough.” I pull her in for another quick hug. “I can’t wait to help you with yours, one day.”

“You know what they say.” She gives a choked laugh. “Always the wedding planner, never the bride.”

She’s so sweet, so caring. “You’ll find your person one day, I just know it.” I nod toward the group of younger single brothers gathering around the bar, glasses of whiskey in their hands. “Might even be a Bachman man.”

“Wouldn’t that just be the dream?” She gives me a sweet smile. “Enjoy your night. Let me know if you need anything at all.”

The first few notes of our song fill the room.

Nikolaos holds his hand out to me. “May I have this dance?”

I giggle at his formality. “You may.” I slip my hand in his.

He leads me to the dance floor. The band plays our song. And we dance.

For the first time, as husband and wife, our baby tucked safely between us.

And I’m head over heels in love with both of them.

My little family.

EPILOGUE

Charlie

I’m sippingtea in the garden, the sun warming my skin. I glance down at my ring, remembering the speech Nikolaos made on the shore when he proposed five years ago.

Two little girls, four and three years of age, their blonde curls bouncing, run through the flower-lined paths, squealing. They’re being chased by the big, bad beast and if he captures them, he’ll tickle them till they beg for mercy.

My hand goes to my belly. Today, over tea cakes and tiny sandwiches, we’ll be telling the girls that they’re finally going to outnumber us. They’ve been begging for a sibling, especially our eldest, and today they’ll find out their wish is coming true.

I take good care of those little girls. The best I can. I know I’m a good mother. I’ve gained confidence in myself since having them, working hard to provide for them, giving them everything I didn’t have in my own childhood. Those little girls will never want for love, attention, or care.

The Beast makes a quick stop in his quest, planting a kiss on my lips. He whispers in my ear, “You look beautiful, Mama,” and gives my belly a little rub. He rumbles up a deep growl, resuming the chase.

It’s going to be a little boy. My baby beast. He’ll be his own little person, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping he’ll look just like his father.

The curse is broken.

I’ve reached my happily ever after.

And now I’ll never, ever be alone.

Mafia Captor:A Dark Mafia Romance by Shanna Handel

Ashely

I’m a hard worker. A smart woman. A decent dresser.

I have one teensy tiny bad habit. Okay, it’s beyond bad.

It’s deplorable.
