As soon as I reach my room, I head straight towards the bed. Crouching down, I pull my backpack from underneath it, grateful I hadn’t already unpacked yet. All I needed to do was pack Steven's photo, and I'd be on my way.

The sound of my bedroom door slamming behind me doesn’t surprise me.

"I'm leaving Riley. Tell Corbin thanks for nothing."

"Tell him yourself."

I spin around, finding Corbin leaning against the door.

"You can't make me go back down there. I won't. I'm leaving." I say, throwing my backpack over my shoulder.

"Put the bag down, Lei." He demands, stalking toward me, his hands reaching toward me as I back up, staying just out of reach.

"Look, I'm sorry about that, but I couldn't hear it, not from you. I—I won't hear it from you." I stammer, panicking at his closeness.

I go to dart past him, but he's too quick. His arms are like steel as they lock around me, pinning me tight against his body as I drop the bag at my feet. "Please. Please, just leave me alone,” I beg. “I don't need an escort." I cry, fighting to break free from his hold.

"Lei."

I go still at the sound of my name falling from his lips.

"You're not going anywhere, Lei," he growls in my ear, his hand slipping under my t-shirt and setting fire to my skin with his touch. "Not until I get my answers. And I will get them. I can promise you that."

I shake my head.No. I need to move. I need to distance myself. He's promised to another, and I already made my decision years ago when I turned my back on him and Riley.

So why do I feel myself getting wet? Why do I want his hand to move lower more than I need my next breath?

I can't stop the groan escaping my lips as his hand trails down my stomach, going further until it's dipping under the waistband of my jeans.

"I can smell how wet you are for me, Lei. I know you want this. Just tell me, why did you leave me?"

"I can't.” I moan as I writhe against his hand, unsure if I'm trying to break free or beg him for more. I finally find my answer as he slips two fingers inside me, and I cry out at the pleasure that rips through me.

Every move of his fingers is calculated, and I know it isn't his passion that's fueling him right now. It's his anger. He’ll take what he wants from me whether I want to give it or not. He wants to punish me. He needs to punish me, and I'm powerless to stop him.

I can feel my orgasm building as his arm tightens around me, keeping me in place as I hear myself begging for more.

“You want more, my greedy little wolf? Then tell me what I want to know.” He growls as his fingers go still inside me.

“I can’t.” I pant. “Corbin, please.” I beg, shamelessly trying to ride his fingers, searching for my release.

“Wrong answer.” He removes his fingers from my body, pulling away from me as I fall to the floor.

“Corbin.” I call out, but it's too late. I watch him head out the door, slamming it shut behind him.

Chapter Seven

RILEY

Shit.I slam my fist against the wall in Corbin's office as I wait for him to return. He’d been just as pissed as I was when the pack ruled against Lei's return.

Not that it mattered. With mine and Corbin's vote, she would stay, but I still wanted to throw everyone that had raised their hand out of the goddamn pack. Lei is their alpha's mate, whether he wants to admit it or not. She’s also my mate, and I’ll have no one disrespect her.

Whatever her reasons were for leaving, I’ll save my judgement for when she finally tells me the truth.

“Finally.” I sigh in relief as I hear Corbin’s footsteps moments before he opens the door, and I catch the scent of Lei on his skin.

I raise my eyebrow in question, but he doesn't speak.
