“Well, I’m sure as fuck not getting shot again, so, yeah, it has to be you. Sharkey’s a good shot. Trust me, he won’t hit any vital organs.”

“Hell no, you’re out of your fucking—”

The fucker shot me anyway, right in the leg. I went down, crying out and cursing at the top of my goddamn lungs.

“Sorry bro, but I’m afraid I’m gonna have to beat the shit of you too. It’s no hard feelings though.”

“FINN,” I growled through a cry. “I’M GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU!”

“I love you too, Jace. I love you too.”

Chapter 49

Phantom

Cindy:Missioncomplete.

I stared down at my phone, reading the message at least a hundred times before I finally passed it over to my brothers to see.

“No fucking way,” Rhett beamed with wide eyes, a bright smile on his face.

“Oh fuck yeah,” cheered Isaac. “That’s what I’m talking about. This deserves a full round of shots.”

Smiling was an intensely rare thing for someone like me, but in this situation, it couldn’t be helped.

Fuck Damien Reyez.

I hope the motherfucker has an aneurysm when he finds out his precious cargo had been hijacked.

“I gotta take a leak,” I said as I got to my feet, retrieving my phone from Isaac. “Order the liquor. It’s likely he already knows but I’ll go ahead and phone Father with the news.”

“Hurry back,” Isaac demanded, his eyes rooted to the main stage. “The main event is about to start and that mouthwatering goddess Rhett and I were telling you about is here tonight. Trust me, bro, you don’t want to miss it.”

“And there he goes,” Rhett grumbled, shaking his head as Isaac began shifting his dick through his pants, a wild, hungry look in his eye. “Always thinking with his dick.”

“At least my dick gets action.”

I rolled my eyes when they began arguing and dispersed from the table, trekking fast to an opening where there were less bodies for me to traffic through. I’d been on edge way before we ever walked through the doors. We’d only been here a little over an hour and it was ridiculous how fast the crowd had tripled within that time frame. Once I spoke to Father and had a few more drinks, I was out of this fucking place. There were far more interesting things I could be doing instead of being holed up in a strip club.

Movement shifted all around me as I steered closer to the bathrooms. From either side of my peripheral, I could see at least three bouncers watching me, their dark glares heating every inch of my body from head to toe.

“Phantom Martinez. What an unpleasant surprise.”

My body stilled at the sound of that fucker’s voice. Prudently, I turned, laying eyes on no other than Damien Reyez himself.

“What brings you here tonight?” he asked with a fake, strained smile.

“Entertainment,” I replied through gritted teeth, my body sizzling hotter with rage.

“I see your brothers are here too.”

“Yeah, and?”

“What about your father? Is he here too?”

“No.”

He tskd. “What a shameful disappointment. Well, as much as I’d love to stay and chat, I have some very serious matters to attend to.” He spun on his heel, but he didn’t move right away. As he glowered at me from over his shoulder, he said, “By the way, do me the courtesy of telling Isaac to mind his hands if he expects to keep them. Enjoy your night, Phantom. I have a feeling we’ll cross paths again very soon.”
