Shit.

I twisted around in Finn’s direction to find him, Jace, a suited-up older gentleman around his mid-fifties, and a girl around my age who looked like she didnothave the time or the patience to deal with this shit, glaring daggers at me.

I feel you girl. I got shit to do too.

“Sorry. What were you saying?”

“It’s nice to meet you, Samara,” the older man spoke, his tone rather polite and professional. “I am Headmaster Higgins. I’m here to formally welcome you here to the academy. Don’t worry about bringing in your luggage. I’ll have two security guards out here shortly to deliver everything to your dorm.”

Security guards. Check.Might be challenging depending on how many are loaded around campus, but they should be easy to bypass when the time comes.

“Thank you. That sounds great.”

“This here is Sky.” He gestured a little hastily to the girl smirking distastefully at him. “Sky Parker. Not only has she volunteered to show you around your new humble abode, but she’s also your roommate. She’ll fill you in on everything you need to know. Your class schedule has already been delivered to your room along with your locker location, books, and everything else you may need, courtesy of the school.”

Courtesy of the school?

Don’t get me wrong, all of that sounded great. But it also sounded really fucking sus.

“Great.” I looked away from him and the pissy look Sky was giving him and stared between Finn and Jace. “So, I guess I’ll see you guys around?”

“Yeah,” Finn said with a smile. “See you soon.”

“Yeah,” Jace dully repeated, refusing to meet my gaze. “See you around.”

That hurt more than I was willing to show him. So instead of rushing to hug him and maybe sneaking a kiss like my soul desired for me to, I stuck my nose to the air and snorted, then followed behind my not so enthusiastic roommate until I could no longer feel his stare smothering me.

After walking a bit Sky turned left, leading me down a long spacious hallway until we reached an elevator. The walls were made of pure granite with a unique spiral pattern that had really caught my attention. So much so to where I almost didn’t hear the elevator ding.

Sky stepped in and I quickly followed behind her. She eyed me over and smirked when she thought I wasn’t looking.

I wrinkled my nose in return.Clearly she had something to say but instead of calling her out I kept my lips zipped. If I had to share a room with this wench, I had to play nice. Murdering my roommate was not part of the agenda.

But I would if it came down to it.

The elevator dinged again, and we stepped out into another hallway. If I could call it that.It wrapped around the whole level of the building and there were individual doors spaced about a good two to three feet away from each other, each with their own room number fancily engraved on the doors.

“We’re in room S7,” she said, nudging her head toward said door across from the elevator. “Come on in.”

If my eyeballs grew any wider I’d be fighting blindly trying to pick them up from off the floor.

This is a dorm?On the outside you’d think the room was no bigger than a large square box but on the inside it looked like a super fancy two-bedroom apartment.

The contents of this dorm wereexpensive. In the center of the living room was a black sectional that wrapped all the way around to fit the space of the room. It was honestly the biggest couch I’d ever laid eyes on. A fifty-two-inch flat screen was mounted against the wall and in the middle of the room rested a walnut colored coffee table. To the left was a fully stocked kitchen. Kind of small compared to the living room, but as long as I could still have my coffee in the mornings and actually cook something other than Ramen, I’d take it.

“There are two small hallways on either side of the dorm,” Sky said as she stepped deeper into the room, raising both hands to point out the halls. One was just beyond the kitchen and the other was connected to the living room on the opposite side.

“There’s two doors. One for the bathroom and then the actual bedroom. My side is on the left past the kitchen. Yours is on the right.”

I nodded to that as my mind took its sweet time trying to process everything. My feet guided me down my side of the dorm where I found two doors like Sky had promised. I opened the one at the end first.

Holy fucking shit balls.

There was a queen-sized bed in the heart of the room—not made or equipped with blankets—but still, it was a bed, much bigger than what I was used to. Next to it was a little nightstand and just like with the living room, there was a flat screen.

I had my own fucking flat screen!?

Overwhelmed couldn’t properly describe my mood right now. In a pure squeal of literal excitement, I ran and belly flopped on the bed, giggling and rolling around to test out the space, happier than a pig wallowing in shit.
