“What’s your deal?”

I sat up to see Sky standing in my doorway, her brows pinched with curiosity as she scrutinized me with her arms folded to her chest. She was actually really pretty. Chestnut brown hair, big blue eyes, and her jeans, blouse, and shoes virtually screamed designer. Expensive. Rich girl status.

Lucky bitch.

“Mydeal?” I emphasized.

“Yeah. Not trying to be rude or anything, but you don’t exactly look and fit the part of someone who would attend schoolhere.”

The fuck did she mean by that?

She eyed over my clothes and then it clicked.

I stared down at my dark, knee-ripped jeans, the best pair of VANS I owned, and my Three Days Grace t-shirt.

“What’s wrong with my outfit? Am I not allowed to wear what speaks to my dark and miserable soul?”

She blinked at me, no doubt contemplating whether or not the school had just roomed her with a nutcase. But oddly to me, she cracked a smile, then suddenly she let out a few chuckles.

“Nothing is wrong with your outfit. All I’m saying is that you’re different. You stick out.”

“Is that a problem?” I asked, quirking an eyebrow at her.

“Eh.” She paused to debate it over. “Depends on whoever's attention you might attract. Andtrust me, honey, you’re a magnet. Guess you’ll have to wait and see tomorrow. Oh, by the way, your uniform is hanging up in your closet.”

“Uniform?”

This time she let out a full belly laugh. “What? You thought you’d get to wear your regular clothes during school hours?” Sky snorted and shook her head. “No, honey, that’s not how it works here. Everyone has a uniform they’re expected to wear every day. Staff, administration, the security guards, and the Ravagers are the only exception to that rule.”

I put my next thought on hold long enough to scoot off the bed and stalk over to the closet. It was the fancy walk-in kind with the cool double doors that slide side to side. My nose scrunched up when I opened it.

Hung up perfectly in the center was a brand-new Barney colored blazer with the lettersSRAprofessionally stitched in on the left shoulder. There was a black button down next to it. And beside that was a skirt—a reallyshortcut skirt that matched the blazer. Then as I looked down to the closet floor, I found a pair of two-inch black pumps.

Fuck. Why’d it have to be heels?

I groaned, knowing what this meant for my poor feet.

“Yep,” Sky said, popping the P, smiling at my disgusted pout. “Be prepared to ice those feet every night because those shoes hurt like a motherfucker.”

“Great,” I said in a dull, painful tone. Keeping the closet open, I ambled over back to the bed and sat down.

“Just…great.”

Chapter 5

Samara

“Youlookgood,”Skysaid the next morning, while she surveyed me staring at myself like an idiot in the bathroom mirror.

It was my first day…My. First. Day.It was a little after seven in the morning and I was already pissed the hell off.

“I look fucking ridiculous,” I sneered. “And look.” I turned to the side and gave her full view of my ass, because that was literally all you could see. This skirt was so fucking short my ass cheeks were, again, literally hanging out.

Sky blinked and flinched back with her hands raised like a camera had gone off in her face.

“Thank you,” she said, slowly lowering her hands as I huffed and faced the mirror again, “for that unexpected mental blink-shot image of your whole entire ass.”

I cocked a dark smirk in her direction. “What thefuckam I gonna do about this, Sky? I’mnotgoing out there to openly expose and embarrass myself in front of all these strangers.”
