We discussed it over for a bit and after I took my leave, I entered my father’s office and wandered over to his desk. Buried down deep in one of the drawers was a small pad. I ripped out a blank page, then grabbed a pen, jotting down a brief message.

I blew out a breath.

This had to work. It had to. Because if it didn’t, Ginger was done for. We all would be.

I left the office and wandered back over to the speaker to check in on Finn and Jasper’s progress. Problem was, Finn wasn’t there.

“Jasper. Where the hell did Finn go?”

“He left.” Jasper finished reconnecting all the wires in their appropriate slots, pumping a fist in the air as the power light glowed back to life.

“Where did he go?”

“He didn’t say. He ran out in kind of a rush though. He said to tell you he’s sorry.”

What in the actual fuck!?

“Fuck.” I gripped my head, shaking it vigorously. “Okay, Jasper, thanks.”

“Yeah man, no problem.”

God damnit. Why the fuck would Finn just take off like that without talking to me first?

It didn’t matter right now. I’d have to worry about it later. For now, I had to deliver this fucking note burning a hole in my back pocket.

After walking through the club, I spotted Bunny, one of the waitresses who was working the section the Ravagers were in.

“Bunny.” I approached her, a kind smile on my face.

“Yeah, Boss? What’s up?”

“You see those three guys sitting over there at table 13?”

She scoffed. “Yeah, the icy blond one is a huge fucking perve. He asked me if my tits were real or fake.”

“Just ignore him,” I said firmly. “Listen, I need you to do me a favor. Go to the bar and get a double round of shots for the three of them. Tell the bartender I said it’s on the house. When you drop it off, make sure they get this too.” I reached in my back pocket and pulled out the folded page, slipping it in her palm. “Do notread it, Bunny, I mean it. It’s none of your business. Got it?”

She swallowed hard as I pinned her with a death glare. “Yes, Boss, understood.”

I watched as she scurried off right over to the bar, whispering to the bartender. He glanced in my direction. I gave him a nod and with an unpleasant scowl, the bartender set the glasses up and did as he was instructed.

Bunny loaded her tray, slipping the note underneath one of the glasses. As she approached the table, Rhett raised his hand, refusing the shots with a hard shake of his head. Bunny whispered something in his ear. I wasn’t sure what, but whatever she said had me sighing hard with relief.

They accepted the glasses and the note.

Rhett opened the page, jerking his head back in utter surprise. He then handed it over to Isaac, who read over it briefly before passing it over to Phantom. My core shook when they each flashed each other wicked grins. They raised their glasses, clanking them before downing the shots. I then spun on my heel and checked my surroundings before sneaking out of the back emergency exit.

I hid behind the dumpster, waiting. Minutes passed and for a hot minute I didn’t think they’d show. But then suddenly the back door opened. It was Phantom. He was alone. I watched within the darkness as he reached behind him and pulled out a pistol.

“That won’t be necessary,” I said, stepping out, startling him. He aimed his gun at my head, his jaw ticking.

I raised my hands in defense. “I’m not armed.”

“Don’t care,” he shot back at me in a nasty tone.

“I come in peace, Phantom. I promise.”

“I’m not taking any chances.”
