Ifuckedup.Ilied to the woman I love and now she hates my fucking guts, just like I knew she would. She was right about me. Ginger too. We were traitors. For all I knew she’d packed up all her bags and was on the nearest bus or train out of the Valley right now.

I know what we did was wrong, and I will forever hate myself for it. We were only trying to protect her, but now I could see that we’d done more harm than good. This was the end of the road for us. There was nothing I could say or do that would make her consider forgiving us.

A curse rattled off my tongue as I glared cross-eyed in the bathroom mirror, attending to my wounds. I arrived at my apartment minutes ago and had no choice but to make a pit stop to the bathroom first thing. When Kitten gave me a triple-decker to the face, I was confident she’d broken my nose. Blood did nothing but pour out of the damn thing the whole thirty-minute drive back to my place. I could hardly contain the bleeding while trying to drive, so I had no other choice but to let myself bleed out down my mouth, chin, and shirt.

After cleaning the blood off of me and disposing of my ruined shirt, I winced, hissing out with another curse as I made to inspect it. It was definitely broken. The bone-alignment was out of place. Shades of purple had already sprouted beneath the flesh there.

There was a plus side to it though—it was an easy fix. The downside is that this was about to hurt like a motherfucker.

I breathed in hard through my mouth several times, my muscles contracting as I braced myself for what was coming. After counting to three, I reached up and pushed in hard, popping the bones back in place. I groaned out like a bitch from the agony.

“FUCK!”

Pounding a fist against the sink, I kept my head down, continuing to breathe like a woman who’d just gone fresh into labor. Not that I knew what that felt like, but still, that really fucking hurt. It could’ve been worse though. At least it was the nose and not my precious balls.

My phone started ringing at the same time I opened the medicine cabinet to retrieve some mini bandages. When I was done applying the little white strips, I fished my phone out my back pocket and stared down at the screen.

Shit.

It was my father.

What the fuck could he possibly want?

“Yeah,” I answered.

“Where are you?” he incredulously snarled through the phone.

Great. Just fucking great. Something serious must’ve gone down if he was in this pissy of a mood.

“Home,” I calmly replied through a grunt.

“I need you at the club.”

“Now?”

“Yes, Jace,now.”

He hung up. Rolling my eyes, I stormed inside my bedroom and fetched a new shirt. I called Ginger just as I was walking out the door.

“Hello?” her shaky voice answered.

“Hey, Gin, you home?”

“Yeah,” she sniffled. “I’m home. Is-uh, is your face okay?”

I chuckled even though it hurt to do it. “Yeah, I’m fine. But hey, you haven’t heard from my father, have you?”

“No, I haven’t. Why? Is something wrong?”

“I’m about to find out. He just called me. I won’t lie to you, Ginger, something’s wrong. He sounded pissed. I’m on my way to the club now.”

“Shit,” she breathed out, worried. “Okay. Promise me you’ll keep me updated.”

“I will.”

I hung up the phone and hopped inside my car. When I arrived at the club, I reported to my father’s office, my eyes widening in horror.

“What the fuck is going on here!?”
