“And what good would that fucking do?” Phantom spoke in a dark hiss as he angrily typed on his computer. He was setting up a gameplan for the first trial coming up next week. “It’s too late. She’s locked in now thanks to you two deceitful sons of bitches. Go see her if you want and see how well that works out for you. Maybe she can beat some more common sense in you since clearly, you fucking have none.”

“I said I was sorry,” Rhett groaned. “I mean, fuck, I only did what I thought was right.”

“I think what Phantom means to say,” I chimed in, “is that we know you meant well.”

“You were in on it too, jackass,” Phantom snapped from over his shoulder.

“That’s besides the point,” I disregarded with a distasteful smirk. “This isn’t about me.I’mnot the one who got knocked flat on their ass tonight.” To Rhett, I said, “Leave her be. Give her a few days to cool off and then approach her. Bring some flowers too. I hear the ladies love shit like that.”

“Can you two get theFUCKout?” Phantom pounded his fists down on his computer desk then whipped around in his chair. “I’m trying to work here and it’s taking every inch of my self-controlnotto the beat the fuck out you both. Fucking leave.Now.”

The monstrous look in his eyes had me cautiously rising to my feet, steering closer to the door right along with Rhett.

“AND CLOSE THE FUCKING DOOR!”

I slammed the damn thing shut and hightailed it behind Rhett down to the other side of the dorm, peering back just in case the bull really did decide to come take a jab at us. When we knew for certain we were clear, Rhett and I entered the living room. Rhett sat down on the couch as I gathered up my shoes by the front door and slid them on.

“You going to see Kinsley?”

“Yep.”

“And you’re confident this is gonna work?” he questioned.

“I bet her life on it if it doesn’t.”

Rhett nodded. Licking his lips, he said, “Hey bro, you think you can do me a favor?”

“I already planned on stopping by her dorm once I was finished handling Kinsley. Don’t worry about it. I’ll make sure she knows how sorry you are and how you’re in here crying your eyes out like a little bitch.”

“Fuck. You.” He flipped me off, offering me a cruel smirk before hopping to his feet. “I’m going to bed and locking my door so I can possibly avoid getting stabbed by Chucky tonight. I’ll probably be asleep by the time you get back so just text me and let me know what happens.”

After Rhett ran off to his room, I walked out the door. It took me less than ten minutes to make the trek to the other side of campus towards the girls’ side.

I knocked three times on Kinsley’s door, stepping back while I waited for her to answer. I knew she was in there. I could hear the pitter-patter of her footsteps racing back and forth from inside.

She was running. I fucking knew she was.

The door flew open just as I made to knock again. As Kinsley’s eyes swept over me, she shrieked, then made to slam the door in my face.

I caught it just in time and shoved it open.

Kinsley stumbled back, tripping over two large suitcases. Her tiny body shook as she blinked up at me, tears in her eyes.

“Well, well well.” I whistled, nodding to myself as I eyed over the ten to fifteen duffels and suitcases piled up near the door.

I fucking loved being right.

“And where do you think you’re going?”

I narrowed my dark green eyes at her as she continued to gape up at me like a frightened child. Her distraught eyes slid down to survey my hands, then my waist, eyeing for a gun.

I didn’t need one to handle Kinsley. Besides, I wasn’t exactly a fan of holding a woman at gunpoint unless it was absolutely necessary. In fact, I didn’t enjoy hurting women at all—not physically, at least. Sure, I was a perverted dickhead when it came to women, but I’d defend and kill for them before I’d ever lay a hand on them.

With Kinsley though, there was nothing to defend. Phantom told me what happened at the pool. How he saved Samara after Kinsley tried to kill her. Not only that, but I was fully convinced she was only sent here to beDaddy’s Little Spy.Those facts alone were enough to off her.

Too bad the bitch was worth more to us alive than dead.

“I-I…” Kinsley stuttered, quivering as she rose back to her feet. “I was just—”
