Ispentthewholeweekend with Sky, not giving a fuck about classes, Damien, nothing. We watched movies, ate just about everything we had in the fridge and freezer, and despite me swearing on my godddamn life I’d never drink again, we’d split a whole bottle of flavored vodka Sky had highjacked from her father’s liquor cabinet. It was a weekend I’d never forget.

Having Sky back here was amazing. But at the same time, spending so much time with her made me miss Ginger. I needed to talk to her. She had barely five days before she’d be gone for good, and the clock was steadily ticking down to zero.

I was a horrible fucking friend. I missed Ginger. I loved her so fucking much. If I didn’t get the chance to apologize to her before the Harvest, I’d never forgive myself.

It would literally kill me.

After throwing on this ridiculous fucking uniform and doing my hair and makeup, I grabbed my phone off the bathroom counter. It was a little after seven in the morning, way too early for Ginger to be awake. I knew she wouldn’t answer the phone, so I decided to shoot her off a small text asking her to please call me as soon as she woke up. Hopefully I’d hear from her during my lunch period.

I left the bathroom and darted inside my room to fetch my backpack. When I had everything I needed, I stalked down the hall, freezing in my tracks.

Oh no. No, no, no…FUCK!

Fucking Brian was here, having a quietly heated argument with Sky, who was crying. She shoved at his chest, then spun on her heel, her wet eyes tightening when she spotted me staring at them, my lips parted.

“Is it true?” she cried out, her hands curled into tight fists. “Did you really try to kiss my fucking boyfriend?”

“What?”

My eyes slid over to Brian who was smirking evilly at me with his eyebrows raised high.

“What the fuck, Sky?No. I-I’dnever—”

“Fucking Isaac wasn’t enough, huh?” she shot back at me, making my mouth plunge down to the floor.

How did she…

I never told her that I…

“Yeah, Brian told me all about how he busted in on you fucking Isaac on the couch. Then when he left, you tried to fuck him too!”

Now my fucking blood was boiling.

“That’s a fucking lie,” I roared as I approached Brian, my fist clenched and ready to knock his head clean off his goddamn shoulders.

Sky jumped in front of Brian to protect him. He smiled bigger with his head cocked to the side.

That lying motherfucker!

“He’s lying to you, Sky. I swear on my fucking life I never touched him. He’s the one who showed up here drunk off his ass. He said he was lonely and wanted me to keep him company. I told him I’d make him something to eat to sober him up. Thenhewas the one who came atmetrying to shove his tongue down my fucking throat!”

“Did you fuck Isaac?” she asked, completely ignoring everything I’d just told her.

“Sky, that doesn’t even—”

“Answer the fucking question, Samara. Did. You. Fuck. Isaac?”

“Yes,” I screeched, my body vibrating with unhinged rage. “I fucked Isaac.”

“Wow,” she scoffed, shaking her head as she knuckled her tears away. “Funny how you failed to mention that to me. Any of it, actually.”

“Sky, please believe me. I didn’t—”

“Why the fuck should I?” she chided, taking a step toward me like she was going to hit me.

I took a step away from her, raising my hands.

“You hadeveryopportunity to tell me what happened, and you didn’t. That itself proves you’re guilty. Brian and I have been dating for almost four years now, and he’s never lied to me.Never.”
