“This is important. Everyone pay attention,” Blaze growls, tossing my phone back before turning back around and staring daggers at the building we’re watching.

I open one of the mindless games I have on my phone. It’s about gaining land from other players and a perfect distraction. Of course, I’m not irresponsible, so I also keep an eye on the building.

Hours pass, and I’ve won ten rounds before there’s any movement. We all perk up when the door swings open, but when a guy in a backward hat and jersey exits, I lose interest quickly.

“What is the plan? Are we going to stalk any female that comes out that door until one of you can catch her scent?” I ask.

Aksel probably explained the plan, but I like to tune him out.

“Yes. We each follow a suspect until we find the correct one. If none of us are following the right girl, then we meet back here and keep watching.” He sounds annoyed as his voice comes out tight. I can hear his teeth grinding from here. He probably already explained this.

As dinner time approaches, more people come in and out of the building, but they’re all male.

A petite redhead leaves, following the sidewalk toward campus. Is that her?

“Blaze, that’s you. Report back when you know something,” Aksel commands.

Next is a bottle blonde with purple highlights and a sexy body, but Aksel sends Felix after her.

When a dark-haired woman who is around six feet tall exits, Aksel turns to glare at me.

“I’m going after this one. You will pay attention and follow the next female you see. Do you understand?”

“Aye, aye, captain.” I salute him before ignoring his reaction.

I may be a sarcastic pain in his ass, but I would never jeopardize a mission. I take my job seriously and am proud to have accomplished so much in my life. It’s not exactly common for an incubus to be a trusted member of an elite team.

It’s another half hour before anything happens, but damn, am I glad I was left for last when it does.

A bombshell blonde with a delicious curvy body leaves in an all-black, tight outfit. Her shorts show off her legs, and the deep V in the front of her shirt gives me a lot to admire.

I casually open my door and get out of the car. When she goes to her car, I know it won’t be simple to follow her. I’m not supposed to take the car, but I have a good feeling about this one.

I could fly, but it’s too light out to not be spotted.

How could she be so fucking attractive if she isn’t a supernatural?

I get back in the car’s driver’s seat since Aksel left me the keys. I start the car and pull onto the road behind her. It’s a quick drive down the road and away from campus until she pulls into the parking lot of a bar named The Riddler.

Once she’s inside, I wait another five minutes before entering the front door. It’s nice in a dive bar sort of way. It’s clean and busy, but you can tell the place hasn’t been updated in ages. With wooden tables, a stage in the corner, and sports memorabilia on the wall, it’s my kind of place.

The blonde is behind the bar, talking to a customer while mixing a drink. I should probably sit at a table and wait her out, but my gut screams to snare her attention away immediately. I take a seat at the end of the bar seconds later.

She finishes up with the other customer before turning and flashing her dazzling smile at me. I can’t help returning it with one of my own.

Usually, when I flash a female my sexiest grin, they melt on the spot. I am made to be attractive to everyone. But she doesn’t even falter in her movements. What the hell?

“What can I get you?” She asks. Her voice is like honey, soothing over all my rough edges.

“A gin and tonic, if you don’t mind.” Once again, I smirk at her, but it’s like she doesn’t even notice.

She starts mixing the drink, watching over the rest of the bar as she works.

I’m not trying to be self-absorbed here, but as an incubus, I am built attractive, and she’s not even looking at me. My world feels flipped upside down. Of course, the hottest girl I’ve ever seen doesn’t even notice me.

She leans across the counter, sets a napkin in front of me, and places my drink on top. I can sense she’s a demon as she gets closer, then I know she’s a vampire.

I may not have the superior sense of smell the shifters do, but every supernatural can sense others. You have to tune into it, but it becomes an instinct. You have to be pretty powerful to be able to cloak yourself from others.
