What?

“It’s all above board. Cross my heart.” Manon’s juvenile pledge sounded so fake I was dying to see my mother’s reaction.

I walked in. “She can’t help it if she’s a princess.” I gave Manon a sly smile.

Manon returned the middle finger before turning her attention to my mother. “I’m off to the Salon.”

“Are you working there now?” I asked. “What happened to the spa?”

“I resigned. Everyone’s so bitchy. I prefer the casino. It’s more fun.”

Clearly flustered, my mother gestured for us to leave her alone. Not a good time to discuss the sex tape, I’d decided. On a deeper level, I didn’t want to bring up yet another murky issue. Lumping my shit choices with Manon’s filled me with even more self-loathing for troubling my mother.

Wanting to learn more about that private club, I followed Manon outside.

“How is Salon Soir more fun?” I asked, catching up with her in the courtyard by the servants’ quarters.

“Just is. For one, there’s entertainment.” She lit a cigarette, balancing it on her lips which seemed thicker every time I saw her.

I’d used some collagen filler myself, but Carson hated pumped lips, so I’d given it a break. He’d told me his cock loved my lips the way they were, as did his mouth.

Mm… Anything to keep that man hard and interested.

Manon certainly knew how to make the most of her good looks. Impeccably applied makeup brought out those large, almost black eyes that were exactly like my mother’s.

Wearing a skintight top and short skirt, Manon loved parading her assets and attracting a lot of male attention.

Drake chatted and laughed with the gardener when he noticed us.

“What kind of entertainment?” I asked, trying to extract as much detail as possible before he came over.

“It’s a private club.” She made eyes at Drake.

“Has this private club got a name?”

“Ma Chérie.”

“What goes on in Ma Chérie?”

She puffed out a smoke ring. “It’s a men’s club.”

One didn’t need to be too bright to read between the lines. “Like a strip club with dancers on poles?”

“Mm… Not quite. More meet and greet.” Her dark eyes smiled wickedly like she was dying to share a secret.

Drake ambled towards us, and her face warmed. I knew she liked him, and he made no secret of his attraction.

I raised my chin at him in the distance. “Are you two together yet?”

“No. But we’ll see. He’s nice.”

“He’s gorgeous.”

Her smooth brow pinched. “Don’t you dare fuck him.”

I had to laugh. “Look at you being all territorial all of a sudden. I prefer men to boys.”

“Oh, he’s a man all right.”
