“Reagan, when I saw you topless on that beach, I knew you were beautiful on the outside”—he winks at me as he finishes the statement about how he first saw me—“and from that week forward, I found out that you are even more beautiful on the inside. I love that you care so deeply for the people in your life. I love that you are passionate about your work and your family…and me. I love everything about you. My days without you are gray and I want to spend the rest of my life living in technicolor with you. I want to wake up beside you and go to bed next to you. I miss you when we’re apart. I can’t get enough of you when we’re together. You’re my world. And I’m so glad I lured you away from being Grant’s decoy at that destination wedding. I want you with me always. Be mine forever. Marry me.”

I realize that I haven’t taken a breath during his entire speech and my lungs fill with much-needed oxygen as I take in the vulnerability on his hopeful face.

“Did you trick me, Mr. Adams?” I ask, placing a hand on my hip.

He shrugs guiltily.

“So you could do all of this…for me?” I question, dropping my voice so only he can hear it.

“I’d move heaven and earth for you, Reagan,” he replies. “Are you going to answer my question?”

“I don’t think I heard a question,” I tease as I bite my lip.

“Will you be my wife?” he asks, his eyes staying locked on mine.

I lean down, and when my lips are a hair away from his, I reply, “Yes.”

His smile is so big that I think it might split his face as he takes out the ring and places it on my finger and then stands and pulls me into his arms. No words are shared as we lock lips and tongues, sharing our first kiss as fiancés. I’m mildly aware of obnoxious cheering from our friends.

After a good three minutes of kissing, we pull away breathless, grinning at each other like fools.

“Hi, fiancé,” I whisper.

“Hi, fiancée,” he responds as we stare goofily at one another.

We go to turn to our friends when Harrison drops to one knee, and I gasp.

“Grant, I love you with all my heart. You’re my perfect match, the yin to my yang. The Cartier to my Tiffany’s. I don’t want to go through life with anyone but you. Will you do me the great honor of being my husband?”

I feel tears fill my eyes as Grant nods and whispers “yes” as he falls to his knees and kisses Harrison. I look up and watch as Zach wipes a tear from his eye, and I nudge him. He pulls my back against his chest and places his head on top of mine as we watch Harrison slide a diamond-encrusted watch on Grant’s wrist, one that he’s been eyeing for months.

“Group hug,” I yell as I step toward our friends and we all sappily embrace.

“Let’s party!” Grant finally screams as we pull apart. Everyone breaks into laughter as the crew lights some lanterns around our picnic area. It isn’t until we sit down that I realize they have been taking photos of everything.

“You thought of everything,” I state as we begin eating lobster.

“Harrison and I may have had a plan,” he admits with a wink.

“What?” Grant says in shock.

“You two may have duped us at that destination wedding, but paybacks are a bitch,” Harrison says with a laugh.

I look over at Zach and then at our friends. “Best day ever,” I whisper as I raise my wineglass to my lips.

Zach leans over and whispers in my ear, “It’s going to be the best weekend ever.”

“Huh?”

“I may have gotten us three more days here…to celebrate.”

“A bit presumptuous of you,” I say with a grin.

He shrugs. “I had a hunch you might agree.”

“A hunch, huh?”

He nods. “It’s gonna take me at least three days to properly worship my fiancée.”
