“Hey.” I leaned up and gazed down at him. “Is that all I am to you, a warm, willing body?”

I was joking, but something flashed in his eyes. Aiden slid his hand into my hair. “You are so much more than that, Dayna. I hope you know that.”

I nodded, too overwhelmed to reply.

“I got you something.”

“You did?” A frown pinched my brows.

“Yeah, stay here.” He gently rolled me off him and climbed out of bed, not caring that he was butt naked.

“What is it?” I stared hesitantly at the box when he returned.

“Open it and see,” Aiden smirked, making my heart flutter in my chest.

I sat up, pulled open the bow, and flipped the lid, my brows pinching at the pale blue tissue paper hiding whatever surprise lay beneath it.

“It won’t bite, freckles. But I might later. You look… fuck, babe, you look so tempting like this.”

Heat crept into my cheeks. He was always so honest with his words.

“Again? Already?” I teased, knowing full well that he’d probably be ready to go again in ten minutes.

I pushed the tissue paper open, and my eyes went wide. “Is this—”

“Go on,” he grinned, “take it out.”

The hockey jersey felt soft in my hands as I held it up.

“Figured you’d need your very own Lakers jersey for when you come and watch me play.”

“I… I don’t know what to say. You bought me a Lakers hockey jersey.”

“Not just any jersey.” Mischief twinkled in his eyes. “Turn it around, freckles.”

No.

My heart crashed into my chest.

No way, he hadn’t—

Number nineteen stared back at me.

His number.

“Now everyone will know you’re my girl too. I know you’re worried about what happens when the summer ends, and I go back to college, but I need you to know that I’m serious about this—us. And I don’t want anyone else, Dayna.”

“Aiden, I…” I didn’t know what to say.

Our relationship was moving at breakneck speed, but it didn’t fill me with dread or guilt, or confusion. It only filled me with hope and anticipation, and joy.

“I love it,” I said, running my thumbs over the lettering. “Thank you.”

“Put it on,” Aiden suggested, and I frowned.

“What? I can’t. I need to clean up and—”

“Put on the jersey, Dayna. I want to see how good you look wearing my number.” His eyes were hooded, simmering with lust as he leaned down, grazing the tip of his nose along my jaw.
