“And then I’m going to fuck you in it.”

“You have a really beautiful home and life here,” Laura said.

It was her final night with us before she returned to Monroe tomorrow. But my parents had already invited her down in a couple of weeks for Dad’s birthday celebrations.

“Thank you.” Mom smiled. “We’ve loved getting to know you. And you know how much we love Aiden.”

Her gaze flicked to mine and a warm glow went through me. I loved that they loved Aiden so much. It felt so easy being around them all.

“But I’m still number one, right?” Carson joined us, placing down the plate of freshly grilled steaks.

“You know you’ll always be number one, son.” Dad clapped him on the shoulder. “But Aiden comes a close second,” he added with a smile.

Carson rolled his eyes, taking a seat. “Don’t let it go to your head, Dumfries.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it, Coach.” Aiden squeezed my hand under the table.

Some part of him always touching some part of me.

“This looks delicious,” Laura said.

“Dig in, please. Nobody is leaving until it’s all gone.” Mom offered the basket of bread around.

I watched them, my family, my boyfriend, and his mom laughing and joking, and smiled to myself. I felt a peace I hadn’t in a long time.

I was home, and I was happy.

And although I wouldn’t say the words yet, I was almost one hundred percent sure I was falling in love with Aiden Dumfries.

EPILOGUE

AIDEN

“So this iswhere you’ve been hiding,” Noah Holden, the Lakers unstoppable right-winger and resident playboy, held out his fist, and I bumped it with my own.

“Holden, good summer?”

“Not as good as yours, apparently.” His eyes flashed to Dayna, who was talking to Carson and Austin Hart, our goalie.

“She’s a hot little thing,” he added around a shit-eating smirk.

“Keep your eyes to your fucking self, Holden,” I grumbled.

“Yeah. Yeah. She’s yours. Got it.” Amusement danced in his eyes. “Got to say it, man, never thought I’d see the day.”

“It’s still new.”

“Yeah, but you’ve got that look.”

“What look?”

I wasn’t sure I wanted to know whatever crap was about to come out of his mouth.

“The ‘you’d-give-it-all-up-for-her’ look.”

“I…” Fuck. He was right.
