p; Black Feather kissed him, then they talked.

"I'll check on her in the morning." Lone Wolf started to walk off.

Deer Runner caught up to him after talking to Black Feather. "Since she is sleeping, I will sleep in your tipi tonight."

"Fine. I am weary and tired."

Deer Runner put his hand on his shoulder. "You have done what needed to be done. It is a good thing. Rest my brother."

"Thank you for the help." Lone Wolf told him.

"When will you marry?"

"When she is healed."

Deer Runner stared off, "My wedding day was the happiest of my life. But today, I'm even happier."

"Why is that?" Lone Wolf asked.

"Black Feather, she just told me, she is with child."

Lone Wolf looked at him with a real smile now. "I am most happy for you." He grabbed his arms and shook them. "It is good. The Creator smiles upon you now. I am so glad for you."

"I can't believe it. We have wanted a child for so long and now….my dreams have come true. We'd nearly given up we've waited so long."

"The Creator has blessed you."

"Yes, and I must be sure and thank him." Deer Runner sighed happily.

"Do you want a son?"

Deer Runner smiled as though to himself. "When we first married I was anxious to have a child and I prayed for one. But now, knowing how long it took I cannot say I want a son. I only want a child of our own."

Lone Wolf's smile widened, "You are wise, and it is good you appreciate the miracle."

"Yes, we have been blessed."

"Black Feather is a wonderful woman. She is so happy."

Deer Runner looked at him, "She is everything to me. If someone did to her what they did to Hannah I would kill them right there. She is my light."

Lone Wolf smiled, "I am glad to hear you say it. Now you must say it to her."

"I will, and many times over my friend."

They went to sleep with smiles on their faces that night.

Chapter Nineteen

For the next several days Hannah was in great pain, but with a gentle salve her wounds began to heal well. Still the pain was like a fire each time she moved about. She became still for so long that she ached to get up and stretch about. She longed to be only one place, safe in Lone Wolf's arms. From the moment he took her from Liam, she remembered his strong arms and how safe she felt wrapped in them. She longed for them now.

Little Feather watched over her the first day and Hannah saw her. "Are you in much pain?" she asked.

"I am much better." Hannah smiled. "Little Feather I think we should talk."

Little Feather turned her head in question. She was a pretty young squaw and Hannah knew she loved Lone Wolf.

"I know how you feel about Lone Wolf… " she said putting her hand on hers as she leaned over to put the salve on her back.
