The creak of a floorboard alerts me to the fact that we aren’t alone. I pull back with a start, drunk off Fox’s kisses, unable to focus my vision for a moment. Fox, however, laughs, dropping his forehead to my shoulder. “Hey, Miles.”

I turn my head to find Miles there, watching us like we’re his favorite television program.

I clear my throat, trying to right myself. “Um, hi. We didn’t hear you.”

I should have recognized his scent as soon as he came into the room, but I was preoccupied.

“I can see that.” He gestures at our entangled bodies. “Don’t stop on my account, please.” He takes a seat in the leather armchair, his gaze sweeping over us. “I know for a fact that Fox is a great kisser. Not to mention great with his tongue.”

My eyes round, and I look to Fox for confirmation. He shrugs. “I really am legendary.”

Oh. Apparently, these Alphas are much, much closer than I thought. That’s… kinda hot.

I’ve written scenarios like this in books, and I know it does happen, but I need a few real-life details. Maybe a demonstration. “How does that work?”

Fox finally lifts himself from me. I miss his warmth immediately. “Well, Riley, when two people are attracted to each other—”

“Not that part,” I rush to cut him off, even as my lips turn upward in a smile. “You’re both Alphas.”

“That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy each other’s bodies,” says Miles. “We just don’t knot each other.”

“You can hold your knot back?” I’m not even sure if that’s the right way to say it, but he nods.

“Yeah. It’s difficult, but the urge to knot is really only stimulated by being with an Omega.”

I knew that part, but only from copious amounts of research done for my ghostwrites. I’d never written a pack of Alphas who are also all with each other, though. “So you just…” I prod, not really sure how to explain what I’m curious to know.

He smiles. “The knot swells at the base when we’re close to the point of orgasm, which I gather you already know.” He winks. “So, it’s just a matter of not forcing the knot and using the rest of the length from the knot to, you know, fuck.”

“Um… wow.”

Their scents were mixed yesterday, come to think of it, but I thought it was just from living in the same house. Apparently, they were spending quality time together instead. I picture the two of them together, their bodies writhing against each other as they pant and moan, scent marking each other, and feel another gush of slick in my panties. Both Alphas’ eyes widen, nostrils flaring.

“Wowis definitely the right word,” says Fox, shaking his head as if in a daze. “In all honesty, I love my pack. It isn’t the same love as an Alpha and an Omega experience, but that doesn’t make it any less. We give each other what we need.” He pauses. “It’s not as uncommon as you would think. Hell, it’s not as uncommon within our own pack.”

“Oh! You mean Levi and Thane do this too?”

“Well, Thane doesn’t play with anyone,” says Fox with a scowl. “He’s on rut suppressors because apparently, he doesn’t believe in fun. They also help him do his job, being around unbonded Omegas all day. But we take care of Levi, and he takes care of us in return.”

“This is…” I don’t have a word for it. Hot, for sure. Unexpected. I have no issue with it, but I didn’t expect it. And deep down, I have a slight heartache that I don’t have anyone to share that kind of bond with.

But you could, a little voice tells me.

Today was just a taste of what it would be like. My lips still feel swollen from Fox’s affection. As I gaze up at Miles, who gives me a knowing look, I find myself wondering how his kisses differ from his packmates.

I also find myself wanting to find that out as soon as possible.

“One to E4.”Thane moves his pawn on the marble chess set, using the same move he always does to open a game between us. I shake my head at him, like I do every time.

“Why do you do that?” I ask, gesturing at the newly set up board. “You know I’m just going to use the French Defense.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t be so predictable,” he says, raising an eyebrow, which of course, messes with my entire strategy. Either I continue with the French Defense, hoping it leads to new moves from each of us, or I do something completely different that might not work at all. In the end, I stay predictable and head into the French Defense, blocking one of his diagonal paths.
