But even though we’ve got a connection to her through Liv, I can still see that need for her to ruin us burning bright in her eyes.

“What’s up, Darlington?” Theo asks, wrapping his arm around her shoulder, much to her disgust. “You look a little uptight. Those goody two shoes boys not quite hitting the spot? You know what you need— Ow,” he grunts when she elbows him impressively hard in the ribs, forcing him to back up.

“If you so much as suggest anything that involves you touching me again, then you’re going to regret it.”

“Leave Prim alone. She’s too stuck up and frigid to be any fun,” Oak grunts.

“Oh, bro. You know as well as I do that breaking the innocent ones can be the wildest.”

“Don’t you three have somewhere to be?” Liv hisses, glaring at her brother.

“You know what will get rid of him?” I whisper in Liv’s ear. But before she has a chance to answer, I back her up against the closest wall, hitch her leg up around my hip and slam my lips down on hers.

“Oh, for the love of fucking God. I can’t watch this shit. Let’s go,” Oak growls while Liv chuckles against me.

Long before I’m ready to break the kiss, the sound of their retreating footsteps disappears and Liv presses her hands to my chest, forcing me to back up.

“You can’t do that every time he’s being a numpty,” Tally says with a smirk.

“A numpty?” I ask, fighting a laugh.

“You know, using foul language doesn’t actually make you cool, or hard,” she sneers.

“Nah, the only thing that makes me hard is my girl.”

“Oh my God.” Tally throws her arms up in disgust, but surprisingly Abigail stands there, silently laughing at her friend. She really is coming out of herself, and I can’t help but think there’s a pretty awesome person hiding behind her mask.

“I can’t do this. I’ve got a student council meeting to prepare for.” Tally scurries off without a backward glance.

“Everything went okay with your mum then, I take it?” Abigail asks once the three of us are alone.

“She was pretty pissed, but yeah, all good. What about you?”

“Yeah, yeah. Everything’s great. Not being shackled to you sure is a weight off my shoulders.”

“Harsh, Abs. Harsh,” I chuckle as the bell rings, and we all move toward where we’re meant to be.

Which sadly means I need to part ways with my girl—but not until we’ve made use of another wall, and I send her into her first class gasping for air, my name a plea on her lips and a promise of what’s going to come later.

OLIVIA

“Abi, Tally, this is Charli. Charli, these are my new friends.”

“I love your hair,” Charli says to Abigail, who shrinks under the attention.

“Uh, thanks.”

I smile at Abi. I know what she’s thinking. Why isn’t Charli staring at her scars?

“And you. Tallulah Darlington. I remember you.”

A ripple goes through the air as the two girls lock eyes. I half-expected Tally not to show. Things were a little weird today at school. She still hung around with me and Abigail at break, but I could tell being around the Heirs makes her uncomfortable. Especially my brother.

“Never expected to see you fraternising with the enemy.” Charli’s eyes slide to mine and then back to Tally.

“Olivia isn’t an Heir,” she points out.
