Oh God.

I fight another smile.

If only she knew.

“I’m not sure about this,” I say as we reach the Chapel. My heart is a wild thing in my chest, beating erratically as Charli nudges me toward the door.

“What’s the worst that can happen?” she asks.

“We could find them all balls deep in Heir chasers?” Tally scoffs.

My stomach plummets. He wouldn’t.

Reese would never—

“Relax.” Tally touches my arm. “I didn’t mean Reese.”

“They said they were playing Xbox.”

“Boring.” Charli grabs the ornate knocker and raps it on the door.

A minute later, the door swings open and Oakley appears. “What the fuck?”

“Surprise.” Charli thrusts a takeout bag at him. “We brought you cake.”

“Cake? What? Liv, what the hell are you doing here?”

“Bad time?” Tally says coolly.

“Yeah,” he drawls. “I was just about to fuck…”

I suck in a breath, hoping he’s not about to say what I think he is. “The guys over on COD.”

“Cod?” Abigail frowns. “You’re playing fishing games?”

He gawks at her, shaking his head, and Charli and Tally use his momentary disbelief to slip past him and enter the Chapel.

Oakley lets out a frustrated groan, pinning me with a hard look. “You thought this would be a good idea, why exactly?”

“I don’t know. The girls thought we could all bond.”

“Bond? With Tally Darlington? Have you forgotten she’s had it out for us since… forever?”

“I think we were wrong about her,” I say.

He makes a derisive sound in his throat. “Well, you can deal with her. And Elliot, when he realises you’re gatecrashing gaming night.” He storms off into the house but pauses at the last second, glancing back. “And Liv?”

“Yeah?”

“No fucking Reese in the Chapel. I love you both, but I swear to God, if I ever catch the two of you—”

“Beckworth.”

Reese’s voice rolls through me like thunder, sending a shiver down my spine. Our eyes collide and the faintest of smiles traces his mouth.

“Hi.”
