Jesus, she’s drunker than I realised.

“I wandered down here and Oak—“

“Hey, Liv.” My brother appears out of the darkness and I gawk at them both.

“What the hell is going on?”

Because this looks bad… it looks just like the time Reese and I had a moment in the woods before the summer.

“Did the two of you-“

“What? Fuck, no,” Oakley hisses. “She’s wasted. I saw her wander out here and tried to talk to her into coming inside.” He runs a hand through his hair. “She tripped and fell. This was the result.”

“It’s true.” Tally hiccoughs. “I fell.”

I study them a little closer. Tally is drunk. Too drunk. And Oak seems a little skittish. But then he’s probably drunk and high.

“I’ll leave you to deal with her,” he says, stalking off toward the house muttering something about’ ‘girls who can’t handle their alcohol’.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” I ask Tally, hooking my arm around her waist.

“Me?” Another hiccough. “I’m fine. But my outfit is ruined.”

“Come let’s get you cleaned up. We can use Reese’s room. I keep some spare clothes in there.”

I lead her back toward the chapel, but I can’t help but think there’s more to the story than she’s telling me.

* * *

“Iknow you always shout at Abi when she asks you this,” Tally hesitates. “But what’s it like… sex with an Heir?”

I glance over at her and frown. “Why are you thinking about sex with an Heir?”

“I’m not. I mean sex in general, I guess. With a lad who knows what he’s doing.”

“Tally, is there something you want to tell me?”

“N-no. No. I guess I’m just curious. I’ve waited and waited to do it and now it seems like this big magical thing.” She drops her gaze. “It’s not like I have a ton of friends to talk to about this.”

“Sex can be intense. Especially with the right person. But it should also be fun and comfortable and feel good. And consensual. Definitely consensual when you’re sober and in the right frame of mind.”

Tally snorts. “Thanks for that, mum. I’m not going to do anything stupid, you know. I have more self respect than that. I’m just curious is all. And drunk. Definitely drunk. I think it’s time I head home.”

She stands, swaying a little. I rush over to her side and lace my arm through hers. “Come on, I’ll ask Reese to call you a cab and walk you to the front gates.”

“Thanks.”

We head downstairs but I draw up short when we hit the bottom step. “Jesus, he’s a dog.”

“Who—oh.” Tally goes rigid beside me at the sight of Oakley practically fucking a girl against the wall.

Dread snakes through me as I watch the usual sparkle in her eyes gutter.

“Tally?”

“W-what?” She jerks her head to mine.

“Are you okay?”
