“Seriously, you two. Can’t you keep your hands off each other for more than—” Tally goes rigid, clapping a hand over her mouth.

“You okay there, Darlington?” Reese asks.

“Fine.” She swallows. “I think I need some air.”

“I’ll come with by you,” I say.

“No, no. I’ll be fine.” Waving me off she starts weaving through the sea of bodies.

“I should probably go after—”

“Relax”. Reese kisses the curve of my shoulder. “No one here would dare touch her.”

I crane my neck, gazing up at him. “How can you be so sure?”

“She’s your friend. And you’re my girl. Anyone would have to have a death wish to touch something that belongs to me, even by proxy.”

“Hmm, I like it when you talk dirty to me.”

“That’s because you’re filthy, sweet cheeks.” Reese kisses me, turning me in his arms so he can run his hands all over my ass.

“Get a fucking room,” Oakley yells from somewhere behind us, and I chuckle.

“You think he’d be used to us by now.”

“Don’t give a shit, Liv. I love you and not even your brother can take that away from me.”

After a while of dancing and kissing with Reese, I go in search of Tally. He’s right, anyone would have to be stupid to try something on with Tally, but it doesn’t mean she hasn’t fallen over in a bush or passed out somewhere.

God, I should have switched her to water sooner. But we all need a blow out occasionally and it can’t be easy being Tally Darlington, head girl, daughter of the straight and narrow NAME Darlington.

“Have you seen Tally?” I ask Elliot in passing.

“No. Why?”

“She went to get some fresh air but it’s been a while.”

“You need me to come look for her with you?”

“No, I’m sure she’s okay. Probably making friends with some of the first years.”

“Shout if you need me.”

I smile. Elliot is… well, he’s still he usual cold, guarded self. But he treats me with respect and has accepted Abigail and Tally’s presence in our lives thanks to my blossoming friendship with them both.

I slip out of the Chapel, ignoring the debauchery going on around me. You get used to it after a while.

“Tally?” I call, scanning the tree line. It’s dark and eerie out here, always has been.

Rustling catches my attention over by the trees and I take off in that direction. “Tal—”

She staggers out of the trees, covered in mud.

“What the hell happened to you?”

“Funny story,” she cackles, barely holding herself together.
