“Check yours,” I bark. “Your dad has been trying to get hold of you. She never made it home from the game.”

“Fuck. Let’s go. Call him back. Find out where the fuck she is.”

“Oakley,” a shrill voice says from behind us.

“Fuck off, Misty,” Elliot barks when Oak fails to say anything

“B-but—”

“He said fuck off,” I snap over my shoulder before we leave her behind with her knickers around her ankles.

“He’s turned his phone off,” I hiss when it goes straight to voicemail.

“Motherfucker. How the hell are we meant to find her?”

“Because he wants us to. If he wanted her hidden, he wouldn’t have reached out. Motherfucker wants the attention.”

The party passes us by as we race toward our cars.

“Dad,” Oak barks down the phone. “That piece of shit Dale Starling has her.” Christian’s panicked voice rumbles down the line. “We’ll find her, Dad. And he’ll fucking pay.”

Dark figures appear in front of us before we get to the car park, making my hackles rise.

“Who the fuck is that?” Theo asks.

“Fuck,” Elliot breathes. “It’s the Harriers.”

“Jesus fucking Christ. What are they playing at?” Oak barks.

“I think we’re about to find out,” I mutter as they walk toward us as fast as we are approaching them.

My fists curl and my pulse picks up in my need to cause these motherfuckers some pain for even considering laying a finger on Olivia.

The three of us stand shoulder to shoulder, more than ready to take them on despite there being more of them.

“Wait,” the guy in the middle says with his hands up in surrender, “we’re not here for trouble.”

“Then why the fuck are you here?”

“We came for you, not for your sister, man.”

Despite his words, Oak surges forward, fisting his shirt and getting right in his face. “Where the fuck is she?” he bellows.

“Oak,” Elliot says softly, wrapping his hand around his shoulder and pulling him back while I stand there practically vibrating with anger.

“She’s at our hangout.”

“I swear to God, if he’s laid so much as a finger on her…”

The guy swallows nervously.

“Follow us, yeah?” one of the other guys says before they all turn back toward the car park.

I march forward to catch up with Oak, as desperate to get to Olivia as he is, but Elliot and Theo hang back.

“What the hell are you waiting for?” I shout, noticing they haven’t moved.

“What if it’s a set-up?” Elliot asks, ever the fucking rational thinker.
