“It was your fucking email, Whitfield.” Oak slams him against the side of the car again, spittle flying from his mouth as he bellows, “I saw what you did, you fucking scumbag. I heard every word of it.”

Oh my God.

God.

An ugly sob crawls up my throat as my world tilts sideways.

Reese released the photos, and there was a video. A video of that night. Of him degrading me. Leaving me broken and half-naked in the mud.

I clap a hand over my mouth as I retch. Everyone will know what happened. Because Reese shared it to our entire school while he lay in bed with me, pretending to care.

“You bastard.” My feet carry me over to him, and before I can stop myself, I slap him across the face. “I came for you. I fucking came for you, and all along you’d planned to do this.”

“Liv, listen to me. I didn’t fucking do this. Yes, I planned to hurt you, planned to skip town and never look back, but I didn’t plan to release that footage. You have to believe me.”

“W-what did you just say?”

“I didn’t plan—”

“No, not that part.” I inhale a shuddering breath. “You were going to leave.”

Reese stares at me, regret glittering in his eyes as he realises his slip of the tongue.

“I… yeah. Once you fell in love with me, I was going to break your heart and then leave. But I did not send that email, I swear it.”

“What the fuck is going on?” Oak glances between us, still fisting Reese’s t-shirt.

“I see.” I stare at him, realising what an absolute fool I’ve been. “It was all a lie, wasn’t it?” Everything you said…”

Every touch, every kiss… it was a lie.

I take a step back. And another. Slowly moving away from him. From the boy I love.

The boy who stole my heart and then shattered it.

“Liv. Olivia. We need to talk about this… we need to—”

“No,” I hiss, cold and detached as my chest cracks wide open. “I never want to talk to you again.”

“Olivia!” he yells as I turn and walk away, tears streaming down my face.

“You’re a lying piece of shit, Whitfield, and you’re done here.”

I don’t turn back at the sound of them fighting. Of the crack of bone and grunts of pain. I have nothing left to give.

Because I gave it all to Reese, and he broke it.

He ruined me.

Just like he always promised.

“OLIVIA!” My name echoes through the air like a battle cry.

But I ignore it.

I ignore him.

Because whatever I thought Reese and I shared was never real.
