"Disappointed? You wanted to stay with me and the guys?"

I snort. "In that boring beige house? I don't think so."

I'm actually relieved I get my own space. I don't think I could survive being surrounded by his intensity twenty-four seven.

The building's clean and a little plain, though the materials seem expensive. We soon reach my door, and Camden unlocks it with a second, identical card.

"You have a key to my bedroom?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Of course not." One corner of his mouth inches higher. "That's a master key unlocking everyone's rooms.”

Camden pushes the door open, revealing a handsome, large shared bedroom. Both sides are already set up, with sheets and throws and cushions on the bed.

To the right, a brunette with long limbs stretches like a cat on top of the bed. She peeks between her legs and beams when she sees us—or, more than likely, Camden.

"Oh, hi!" She unfurls and jumps up. "I wasn't sure I'd have a roommate when no one showed up atorientation, but I came back from a party tonight and all this stuff was there. Damn, you're great at unpacking!" She extends her hand to me. "Skylar Huntington.”

"Morgan Brown," I say, clumsily shaking her hand.

She has a hell of a firm grip.

"And you're Camden Hunt," my new roommate says, all smiles. "I'm a petal. At your service."

"Indeed," Camden replies levelly, then he dismisses her, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "I don't have enough time to fuck you now, and I don't think it's advisable with your ribs. Your fridge is full—eat something before taking your meds, yes?"

I roll my eyes. "Yes, mom."

But I'm not gonna lie: it's actually good to have someone who cares enough to give me that kind of instructions.

"Well, that was an eventful day," I say awkwardly. "Am I going to see you this week?"

His eyebrows shoot up. "Of course. We're both freshmen. You’re in sciences, I’m in economic. I think we’ll have a fair few classes in common."

I nod, although I didn't truly ask the question I wanted, and he didn't give me a real answer either.

Is he going to ignore me this week and fuck my brains out again next Friday?

I guess I'll know soon enough.

Skylar makes herself scarce, and Camden shows me around my half of the room. Clothes that don't belong to me are neatly folded and hung in the closet, my fridge is filled with meals ready to be microwaved, fresh produce, milk, and juice. What delights me most is my computer, waiting for me on the empty desk.

"If you hadn't saved it before the fire, I would have doused you with gasoline," I tell him.

Camden shrugs. "I figured as much. How else could you hack into my friend’s computer?"

The casual mention of the event that started all of this mess has me rolling my eyes.

An alarm rings, and Camden checks his back pocket for his phone.

"Midnight." A wrinkle creases forehead. "I'd better get going."

In truth, I'm relieved he's on his way. I'm exhausted, and no in a small amount of pain. "So long, Cinderella. Don't turn into a pumpkin."

He chuckles and presses his lips to my forehead. "Eat," he reminds me.

And on that note, he's gone.

I sigh, falling on my bed.
