He grunts. "No."

"Come on, Camden. Be reasonable. I'll be in New York."

He runs his hand along my cheeks. "Good thing I'll be in New York too."

That's news to me. I sit up and focus on him, rather than letting sleep take over. "You will?"

He shrugs. “A family friend’s getting married that weekend. You're coming."

I sigh. "But I want to go shopping with Willow. We'veneverhad a shopping day where we could just buy what we wanted together."

"You wanna go shopping?"

He has cause to be surprised.I don't spend a lot of his money—I haven't so much as bought myself one piece of clothing, as it's unnecessary, given everything Valentina keeps sending me, and delicious food keeps appearing in my fridge every week. I only use his card for buying the occasional book—usually for school. Those cost a pretty penny.

I shrug. "It'd be nice for Willow."

And I'm comfortable enough in this strange arrangement of ours to use a bit of his money, now. I might not want to for myself, but I'll do it for my sister.

"You can go during the day. The wedding is Friday evening."

"Oh, that's fine." I would have preferred to spend the whole day with Willow, but I have the weekend. I'm not leaving before Monday.

"I love how malleable you are after a good orgasm."

I can’t help laughing. "I'm mostly malleable after wecompromise." I got what I wanted out of the deal too.

"True." Camden brings his lips to my forehead, and holds me close.

I fall asleep in the blink of an eye.

ChapterSixty-Five

I seriously suck at parking unless there’s tons of room, but somehow, despite that handicap, I manage to pass my driving test.

Phone in hand, I practically skip back to the dorms, riding the high I’ve been riding since the instructor gave me a stern nod. I text Willow first, knowing she’s likely still in class, and then Camden. He paid for my lessons—he deserves the update. Next, I message Erica, using our usual group chat.

My eye catches the name of the other participant in the group, and my heart plummets in my chest.

Lola.

Whatever Camden’s assurance, it’s been far too long since she went missing. I watch serial killer documentaries. I know the chances of finding the person alive after all this time are minuscule. She's been gone for close to eight months now.

I don’t think Camden and his friends are psychotic killers but if something happened—some kind of accident—they likely wouldn’t hesitate to make it go away. Maybe Camden doesn’t even know about it. He could have been told she’s fine and not seen a reason to question it.

“Congrats.”

I’m pulled away from my dreary thoughts by the man himself. Camden’s leaning back against a car, ridiculously sexy as ever, illegally parked right in front of the dorms—not that anyone is likely to say anything to him.

“Thanks!" I give him my biggest smile. "New wheels?”

I’ve seen his Audi and his fancy sports car, but this red Porsche is new. It’s a pretty vehicle, but though I can't put my finger on the why, I can't see him in it. Not that I'd tell him that. He undoubtedly spent a pretty penny on his new toy.

“This?” He taps a panel.“It’s not mine.”

My eyebrows arch.I’m surprised someone else would dare park right here. They didn’t even stop at the drop-off point, driving right over the paved walkway leaving up to the building. I thought only Camden was capable of displaying that level of casual disinterest in propriety, living by his own set of rules.

“Might want to move then. The owner could be pissed you’re all over it.” The car looks brand new.
