Camden cocks his head to the side. “Come on, princess. We’ve gotten the scale back where it should be. You have leverage on us, we now have leverage on you. We can forget everything and move on. You want to know about Lola. I’ll tell you what I can.”

“At what price?” I snap.

His eyes are glinting with sheer malice. “A ride,” he drawls.

I scoff, and kick the door open. “Pass.”

He chuckles, following my footsteps as I flee down his staircase. “I meant, I’ll give you a ride home, that’s all.”

I don’t bother to reply, running as fast as my feet can carry me. I’m relieved to find the front door unlocked.

The warm air somehow feels lighter high up on the hill. It isn’t clogged with pollution up here. I breathe in deeply, calming my still-racing heart before I set off on foot.

I’m exhausted, and the walk’s going to take at least ninety minutes, from the richest to the poorest part of Thorn Falls, up and down the hills.

As I put some distance between myself and the Hunts’ mansion, unwanted visions of what I was up to just moments ago rush to the forefront of my mind, and my skin tingles.

I yell in frustration, and start the long trek down the hill.

I’ve not even made it to the Archer manor—the third or fourth house down from the Hunts—when Camden’s obnoxious car crawls up next to me, window down.

“Go away, Camden.”

“You still have my cum in your mouth, princess. You can call me Cam.”

Without a look, I shoot him my middle finger, and he laughs.

He doesn’t stop following me either.

Asshole.

When we reach the town center, I wind through one way streets he can’t drive into. I’m making my journey home at least fifteen minutes longer with the detour, but if I can lose him along the way, that’ll be worth it.

I get to Main Street just as a night bus appear at the end of the avenue. I blink as I watch it.

I fully intended to return to our trailer tonight, but to what? My mother’s gone, my sister’s gone, and I no longer have a job here. Lola’s god knows where—six feet under, probably. I’m not about to trust Camden fucking Hunt—and Erica’s spending the entire summer traveling with her rich husband.

I never fit in in Thorn Falls, mostly a weird loner among my peers in the west side, and by default, rejected by the riverside. Now several of them—Juliet, Aryan, Camden, Liam, Richard and who knows who else?—will always see me as the girl on her knees, with cocks in my hands.

You’re such a good little slut.

“Hey!” I scream, before having made any conscious decision.

The bus is driving past the stop. I wave my hands wide and rush forward. “Wait! Please.”

I’m surprised when the driver complies—I wasn’t sure he saw me. I rush to the open door, reaching it out of breath.

“Well?” an irritated old man prompts. “Are you getting on?”

I have no idea where the bus is even heading.

Not that it matters.

“Yeah. You take cards, right?”

“Sure. All the way to LA?”

Los Angeles. That’s his destination.
