I lift the number. “Five-thousand dollars, and I will spend a lifetime going on adventures with you, Johnny Creed.”

The crowd hushes and gasps.

That adorable cocky smirk lifts Johnny’s lips.

“A lifetime is a long time.” He slowly swaggers around the bike.

Billie’s hand falls away from me.

I meet him beside Emerald. “A lifetime isn’t nearly enough time.”

He stops in front of me. He lowers the microphone to his side. “I’m selling my bike to prove to you I’m not going anywhere.”

“Shhh.” I touch the seat of his bike. “He didn’t mean it, baby.” I grin at him. “Don’t hurt her feelings. Emerald plans on showing me the world, and I’d love it if you’d come with us.”

He drops the microphone. Both hands cup my face, and his mouth presses against my lips.

Everyone around us vanishes as our hot kisses collide.

When we part, I hear the hoots and hollers from the crowd.

He holds my face in his hands. “I love you, Bex.”

My fingers grasp his wrists. “I love you, Johnny. But I really think you owe Emerald an apology.”

He chuckles. “I’m not apologizing to a hunk of metal.”

I giggle. “I’m seriously reconsidering my invite. You better get on that bike before I change my mind.”

In less than a minute, we’re both on his idling bike, fastening our helmets.

“Where to?” Johnny asks over his shoulder.

I tighten my arms around his waist. “My apartment.”

He growls. “I have a better spot if you trust me.”

“I trust you.”

The crowd parts as Johnny maneuvers through. He drives to the outskirts of Cinnamon Bay to a small beach house on the water.

“What is this place?” I ask, climbing off the bike.

“It’s home.” He lifts off my helmet. “I’m putting down roots.” He smoothes my hair. “Come on.” He pulls my hand and guides me to the beautiful backyard overlooking the ocean.

“Johnny, it’s beautiful.”

“You’re beautiful.” He kisses me. “When darkness falls, I was thinking we could consummate the water.”

I laugh. “Yes.”

“But first, I need a second with Emerald. I owe her an apology.”

I laugh again. “You do. I’ll be waiting in the water.” I step away from him. “Who says it has to be dark?”
