I move my fingers away as my orgasm floods through me. It is intense and I reach out with my other hand and grip the edge of the sink as I experience the relief my orgasm has brought me. I wait until it has run its course leaving my skin tingling but my clit sated, at least for now. I quickly use the toilet while I’m here and then I go to the sink to wash my hands. I glance in the small mirror above the sink, and I’m pleased to see that I look normal.

My cheeks are perhaps a little bit flushed, but my hair is neat, my makeup isn’t smudged, and my clothes are all in place. No one would look at me and know I have just had an orgasm. It’s just as well that’s the case because as I’m drying my hands on the plush red towel that hangs on the ring beside the sink, there’s a knock on my office door.

I leave the bathroom quickly and go to my desk where I sit down.

“Come in,” I call.

The door opens and a pretty redhead steps inside. It takes me a moment to place her, but I realize she’s one of the new people. Jack’s secretary, Ivy.

“What can I do for you, Ivy?” I ask, smiling at her.

She returns my smile.

“Jack would like to see you in his office,” Ivy replies with a shy smile. “He said it’s not urgent if you’re in the middle of something for a client, but it’s important enough that he wants to see you before lunch.”

“Got it, thank you,” I say.

Ivy nods to me and then she leaves my office. I wonder what Jack could want. Maybe he has a new project he’d like me to work on, but surely, he knows I’m swamped, what with all of my usual clients and then the project with Tyler too. Still though, if he needs me to work on something for him, I won’t say no.

I decide that now is as good a time as any to go and see him and I lock my computer and get up. I drop my cell phone in my bottom drawer with my purse. I debate putting my jacket on but it’s warm enough in the office and I’m already wearing a long-sleeved blouse which I think will be more than enough. It’s not like I’m even going outside. Decision made, I leave my office and head towards Jack’s office.

To get to Jack’s office, I have to pass Tyler’s office and of course that sets off all sorts of delicious memories from last night. It also brings back the funny moment where we were so close to being caught by the pizza guy. I wonder if Tyler is in yet. I decide to wait until I’ve seen Jack and am on my way back to my own office to knock on his door and see.

I reach Jack’s office and knock on the door. He calls for me to come in and I open the door and step in. I smile at Jack as he nods to the chair opposite him at his desk. I notice he doesn’t return my smile and as I sit down, I see that he actually looks really pissed off. Is this about me being late this morning? It’s the only thing I know of that I’ve done that could piss him off like that.

“What the hell happened this morning, Summer?” Jack says once I am seated.

Wow. He really is pissed off about this.

“I was running a little bit late. I’m sorry and I promise it won’t happen again. I know it doesn’t make any difference, but for what it’s worth, it was only fifteen minutes and I do plan to make the time back up,” I say.

Before I’m finished talking, Jack is waving his hand, waving away my words. He shakes his head.

“I’m not worried about that. I didn’t even know you were late this morning and I know you work late more days than not so I wouldn’t be worrying about you making fifteen minutes up,” he says.

Now I’m really confused. If he’s not talking about me being late, then what is he talking about? I know I couldn’t focus properly on my emails this morning, but I did look over them enough to know none of them were pressing matters.

Jack is watching me and after a few seconds, when it’s become clear to him that I have absolutely no idea what he’s talking about, he sighs.

“You missed your ten am meeting with Scarlet Bond about the redesign of her holiday home,” he prompts me.

Oh fuck. I didn’t just miss that meeting, I forgot it existed altogether. How could I have been so careless? Scarlet Bond is by far my richest client – hell she is by far the whole company’s richest client - a multi millionaire, she likes the finer things in life and that includes bespoke designs on any property she invests in. Scarlet is no trust fund brat – she’s earned every cent she has and as such, for her, time is money, and I have just wasted a chunk of her time. I can see now why Jack is pissed off. I’m pissed off too and I’m sure Scarlet is pissed off enough to put both of us to shame.

“I… I don’t know what to say,” I stammer as Jack sits waiting for an explanation. “I wish I could give you an explanation that could excuse this, but I can’t. I don’t know what happened. I just genuinely forgot about the meeting.”

What can I do but be honest? There’s nothing I could invent on the spot that would be big enough to excuse my behavior without it coming back to bite me in the ass down the line. I might as well take the ass kicking now.

“You realize I have fired people for less?” Jack says.

Ok, I wasn’t expecting that. An ass kicking is one thing, but to be fired from the company I have worked for since I graduated from college is a step too far in my opinion. I don’t think pointing that out is a wise move right now though.

“All I can do is apologize and promise you that I will make it up to Ms. Bond,” I say.

Jack nods curtly once. I think that means I’m not getting fired today. At least I hope it does.

“Ok,” Jack says. “And I trust that this won’t happen again?”

“Definitely not,” I say, and I mean it. I am more than embarrassed this has happened once. If it happened again, I think I would quit on the spot out of the sheer mortification of it all.
