"Stay calm. Try again," Helios replied, gentle but firm.

I took in a lungful of air and let it out slowly, giving my hand a shake before trying again. And again. And again. By the fifth attempt with no progress, my frustration was starting to bleed out. "Why isn't this working?" I asked through gritted teeth.

"I'd be surprised if it was," Helios retorted. "You have to keep trying, Antonia. You're not going to get it right away, and that's fine. But if you keep losing your cool with every failed attempt, your concentration will also be affected."

"How long did it take you to have it down?"

He hesitated before saying, "Three times."

"Aha!" I pointed at him victoriously. "See, the problem is me. You were able to get it to work after your third try, but I'm here on my fifth with no luck."

"First of all, you can't base your capabilities off of mine." Helios shook his head as he walked around the table over to where I stood. "When I was reincarnated, I still knew I was able to use magic. You didn't even know you could do magic twenty-four hours ago, and yet you believe casting a spell would come easy for you?"

His logic was sound, but it didn't make me feel better. I was hoping it would come easy for me, but now I could see how challenging it was going to be. The longer I struggle with this spell, the longer it would take for me to advance to the next spell. And ultimately take me longer to complete my training and win back my freedom. If a basic spell like this was trouble for me now, what was going to happen when I started practicing more complex incantations?

Helios came up behind me and rested his hands on my shoulders, giving them a faint squeeze as he leaned forward. "You can do it. Just try again," he whispered into my ear.

I held myself as stiff as I could as to not show how his deep voice was affecting me. Slowly, my hand stretched out once again, but this time Helios reached out and rested his hand against mine. Leaning back, I found my back pressed firmly against his front, which included the noticeable bulge that was snugged between my ass cheeks. I wanted to press against it, to rub up on it. I bet it was thick, and the thought of it stretching my tight pussy to accommodate his girth had heat flowing between my legs.

Not quite where I needed heat to be.

"Close your eyes and concentrate," Helios ordered with a gruff tone.

I did as instructed, closing my eyes, but my concentration wasn't on the spell. It was on his lean body pressing up against mine. Seriously, when did I become such a horny slut? I was never this aroused before descending to Hell, and now suddenly I was acting as if I needed sex in the way I needed air.

"Focus on your magic stored within your core." I felt Helios' hand resting against my stomach before rubbing circles on it. It didn't help my predicament, or how close his hand was to my folds, and how sensitive and wet I was getting.

Magic. Core. Right.

Chapter11

Apollyon

Everyone settled in the dining hall for dinner. Lord Deimos sat at the head of the main table with Xaphan and Abaddon to his right, and I sat to the left with two empty seats for Helios and Antonia. It’d been three days since she woke up in our court, and since then she dedicated her time with Helios and her magic lessons. Just as the food was being passed around, in walked the two in question now. Helios nodded towards me and guided our newest little witch to our table, a hand resting on the small of her back. She seemed flushed, but otherwise, she wasn't as skittish as when we first met her. Maybe Helios' support was helping her to adjust.

Now that she no longer looked ragged and disheveled, I gave myself the silent moment to look her up and down in that dark pink dress and her lustrous black hair that could pass for silk. She looked as radiant as I expected. Better even. It was the first time I truly allowed myself to appreciate the beauty of a woman. Don't get me wrong, Abaddon wasn't the only one who had his share of flings with a succubus or two. Sometimes I had the pleasure of bedding an incubus. But those were nothing more than a means to an end.

As far as I was concerned, I never needed to seek companionship when I had the company of my brothers. Not that I wouldn't have minded having a mate, but nobody had ever been able to catch my attention, and I didn't want to make the same mistake I made with Solara. Thankfully she had forgiven me, and our relationship had evolved to one of siblings, but I knew she wanted more from me and that was something I could never give her.

What about Antonia? Well, it was no wonder she was a witch. Her appearance alone was enough to cast a spell on me.

Antonia and Helios came around the table, our witch sitting next to our Lord while Helios sat beside us. It was when Helios took a seat that my nose was able to detect a rather strange aroma. A strong, salty tang that reminded me of... sex.

"It's about time you two joined us," Lord Deimos spoke, turning to face the two in question. "How was your first magic lesson?"

"She did great, my lord. She was able to go through her first two spells with a little push and determination," Helios stated.

Her first two spells?

"Impressive," Deimos purred in satisfaction. He reached out and cupped Antonia's chin in his dark, taloned hand, forcing her to turn her face to him. A possessive part of myself I never knew I had was urging me to go to them and remove his hand off her face. My fingers curled on my knee to stop myself from acting on it. "I always knew you had potential, my little witch."

"I did okay, no thanks to you," Antonia hissed back, jerking her face out of Deimos' grip and rubbed at where he held her.

I expected Deimos to lash out for the blatant disrespect, but to my surprise, he arched an eyebrow with interest. "Oh? Are you saying you'd prefer me to be your teacher instead?"

At the question, Helios' body stiffened beside me, but he tried not to hide it by digging into the meat platter on his plate, pretending not to listen in on their conversation. I did the same, not saying my obvious interest in what they were saying, but my ears were honed in on their exchange of words.

Antonia leaned back in her seat with her arms crossed. "On the contrary, my Lord. I actually prefer this arrangement. As a matter of fact, the less time I get to see you, the better."
