“Sorry.” Harley placed a hand over her mouth. “My father always said I swore like a sailor. It’s a bad habit.”

“No worries.” Vinny poured another shot for her.

Harley took the glass and held it up. “Salud.”

“Salud!” Vinny cheered.

The door opened, and Marco Moretti, the middle brother among the Moretti boys, walked in.

“Shi—I mean shoot.” Enzo looked at his watch. “I didn’t realize how late it was.”

“Big plans?” Garrett asked.

Enzo rolled his eyes. “Cami is making me go to the Town Hall Meeting tonight. We’ll be going over the Memorial Day Festival and the summer, like anything is going to change from last year or the year before.”

Garrett attended one right after he opened the shop, and it was enough. “Exactly why I don’t go. You’ve been to one, you’ve been to them all.”

“Tell me about it, but Cami is supplying the coffee as if those people need any more energy.”

Garrett laughed. “Good luck.”

“Thanks.” Though the unamused expression that crossed Enzo’s dark features was anything but.

“Did I miss my invite to the party?” Marco asked as he approached and patted Garrett on the back.

“You’ve been too busy with your new wife that we stopped sending,” Garrett said.

“Funny,” Marco deadpanned. “If I knew the king was bringing a date here tonight, I would have insisted she come. Not every day you introduce us to your flavor of the week.”

He loved Marco like a brother and, in this moment, he wanted to give him a good brotherly right hook. “She’s not—” His words got cut off by Harley’s.

“I’m his new employee and completely flavorless.”

Garrett would disagree. She was vanilla and cinnamon, and if Scoops had that ice cream flavor on their summer lineup, he would order it every day.

Vinny took the bottle of limoncello and slipped off the stool. He walked over to Harley and held the bottle up. “One for the road?”

“Are you driving?” she asked.

“No, my grandson is dropping me off on his way to pick up his fiancé.”

“Then, why not? One for the road.”

Harley took the two glasses, and Vinny poured the liquid.

“What? None for me?” Garrett asked.

“You have to drive,” Vinny said with an odd smirk.

Garrett’s lips parted, ready to point out Harley had to drive as well, when it all became clear. Before he could say anything, Harley and Vinny washed down their shots.

“Okay, I’m ready,” Vinny said to Enzo, who placed the rag down and came out from behind the bar. “Now you’ve had three shots. You can’t drive. Garrett will bring you home.”

Vinny patted his back on his way out, and Enzo shook his head as he followed, adding a “tricky bastard” as he passed.

“Where’s your partner in crime?” Marco slipped behind the bar and gave a final wave as Vinny and Enzo left.

“Tony had something to do with Krissy. Though I’m sure he’ll be home in time to watch Jeopardy with your grandfather.”
