“Come again for me, gorgeous.”

As if her body were waiting for permission, her muscles coiled and pleasure crashed through her once again. She gasped and closed her eyes. Before she realized what was happening, Auden had moved, positioning himself above her. His cock nudged against her opening, his fingers sliding to her clitoris. Every part of her felt alive, but a bolt of apprehension went through her. When he pushed against her, the size of him felt impossible.

“Auden—”

But then he lowered his head and took her nipple between his teeth, using enough pressure to get her attention. A cry of pain/pleasure escaped her throat, and just as she was trying to catch up to what was happening, he pushed fully inside. A hot pinch of discomfort shot through her abdomen, rippling outward like a wave, but then it was over, already a fading memory, and he was pumping into her, her slickness easing the way and her body stretching to accommodate him. They were joined. Auden was inside her. She was no longer a virgin.

“Good girl,” he whispered. “So good. The hard part’s over. You did great.”

Triumph shimmered through her.

His lips found hers, and he kissed her long and deep, his hips pumping slowly and steadily. She wrapped her legs around him, losing herself in the novel sensation of being joined this way. What a marvel that one person could take another inside their body. He tucked his hand between them, stroking her, chasing all remnants of pain away and just leaving pleasure.

Soon, she was panting into his mouth, the previous orgasm still echoing through her, and a new one on its tail, one that seemed to be building deeper in her muscles.

He groaned and picked up speed, his breaths turning to gasps, his own desperation something to behold. She wanted to snapshot the moment, hold onto it. Auden seeking his pleasure, giving himself over to it, giving himselfto hereven if only for a moment. The muscles in his neck strained, perspiration dampened his skin, and then he cried out, his head dipping and his body going tense and hard all over. The sound he made was a surrender, a primal call. She bathed in that sound, reveled in it, and then she moaned along with him, the feel of him swelling thick inside her making her eyes roll back in her head and orgasm envelope her again.

“O’Neal.” The grinding way he said her made her come harder. She held on to him tight, her fingers at the nape of his neck.

Auden. Auden. Auden.

They were flying. Together. In that moment, no one else existed in the world.

When they finally drifted down and he sagged against her, spent and sweaty, she buried her face in his neck and breathed him in.Aud.

Only when she felt the dampness on her cheeks did she realize she was crying.

He lifted his head. “Oh, Shaq.” He pushed her hair away from her eyes, a concerned expression on his face. “Talk to me. Are you okay? Are you hurting?”

She couldn’t stop the crying, but she managed to shake her head. “I’m fine. I’m good.”

He frowned, looking altogether unconvinced. “Give me one sec, okay?” He eased out of her and quickly removed and tied off the condom before tossing it into a trash can by his desk. He grabbed a few tissues and gingerly cleaned her of the little bit of blood their lovemaking had caused. When he rolled back toward her after tossing the tissues, he pulled a blanket over them and tucked her hair behind her ear.

“Tell me what’s going on. Did I hurt you? I’m sorry if—”

She shook her head and swiped at her tears, trying to find the right words. “I promise I’m okay. It hurt a little, but that was only for a minute. That’s not why I’m crying. I think I’m crying because I’m…” The truth came to her in a rush. “Relieved.”

His eyebrows arched. “Relieved?”

“Yes. I made a promise to save myself for marriage when I was too young to really understand what that meant. I was taught my virginity was the ultimate gift.” She reached out and touched the ring he’d put on his pinky. “And that promise is the thing my grandparents used to keep me from…everything. From life. I was the fine china kept wrapped up in the attic and never used.” She looked up at him. “Now there’s nothing left to protect. The china is shattered. I feel…free.”

His hazel eyes turned tender. “I wouldn’t say you’re not worth protecting, and you’re not broken or used, but I think I get what you’re saying. There’s no more debate. The decision is made, and there’s no undoing it. Even I went through a little bit of that. The first time I had sex, I thought I was for sure going to hell.”

“Really?” she asked, surprised.

“Yep, one hundred percent.” He gave her a mischievous smile. “Then I decided it was worth it. I was at peace with my eternal damnation if it meant I got to have sex.”

She laughed.

He propped his head on his fist. “You sure you’re okay?”

She lifted her head, feeling the answer deep in her gut, and kissed him lightly. “I’m sure. No regrets. That was…wow.”

He looked pleased. “Yeah?”

The little hint of vulnerability he was showing sent a flutter through her chest. She wasn’t the only one who needed reassurance. She hadn’t thought about the pressure on him—being someone’s first. “It was great. I don’t have anything to compare it to but yeah, wow. Is it always like that?”

His dimple appeared. “Sadly, no. I mean, sex usually doesn’t suck, but chemistry matters, and sometimes you just don’t have the right mix with someone.”
