Liam isn’t just hot. He’s downright sexy.

And this isnotmaking me feel things.

“I didn’t realize…” I mumble.

“You’ve never seen me with my shirt off,” Liam responds reasonably.

He gives me a sideways glance and this sheepish expression creeps over his face, making him look almost boyish. I haven’t seen anything like it, and it’s making my head spin all the more. “I was trying out your spontaneity challenge to see if it had any merits. Think I embarrassed myself… that seems to happen a lot when I’m around you.”

“Right back atcha,” I respond automatically. “I don’t think I’ve ever had so many… ah, unfortunate incidents-slash-accidents occur around one person.”

Liam smiles. Actually smiles.

Not just a lip twitch or a smirk, but a full-blown, teeth-showing beam that lights up his entire face, transforming him. And goodness me, it’s a sight to behold.

I look away.

“So, um… good first week? You enjoying the job?” Liam attempts conversation valiantly. Like he wasn’t topless mere moments ago, and I haven’t been blushing uncontrollably ever since.

I opt for bluntness. “You really don’t like small talk, do you?”

“Loathe it.”

“Thought so.” I laugh.

“But,” Liam adds almost shyly. “I am interested to hear how you like working at Stay Inside the Lines?”

I smile. “I love it.”

He doesn’t react, his face predictably unreadable. Instead, he asks for directions to my place, and we sit in a slightly awkward silence until his phone rings moments later.

He answers it hands-free. “Hello?”

“You picked up Legs yet?” Luke’s voice booms over the car speaker.

Liam winces and turns down the volume. “No, I’m just dropping Annie off.”

“You’re dropping Annie off?!” Luke practically shrieks. “From where?”

“Long story. And you’re on speaker.”

“Oh, good. Hi, Annie!”

“Hi, Luke,” I call cheerfully.

“Glad I caught you both, actually. You haven’t cooked yet for tonight, have you, Liam?”

He cooks? A tattooed businessman who can cook?

Jeez, Louise.

“Was going to grab a pizza,” Liam says.

“Don’t bother. The caterers at the ranch are packing all the food from the sample menus we tried today. There’s a ton of stuff, more than enough for all of us. We’ll bring it round to Lana’s.”

Who the heck is Lana?

“Sounds good,” Liam says.
