Her blush darkens with a shy smile. She doesn’t fight me when I drag her to sit next to me. “Chelsea wants to see Maxim.”

“I know. She begged me to convince you to let her go.”

The idea makes me sick despite me sitting still. Addie’s tone doesn’t seem opposed to the idea. I want to know why. “What do you think?”

She meets my gaze with wide eyes, seemingly shocked. “I don’t know why you’re surprised. You’re smart, and I respect your opinion.”

“Thank you.”

Graceful fingers curl around my hand, giving me a gentle squeeze. I squeeze right back, reassuring her of my intentions. “I really want to hear what you have to say.”

“I think you should let her go. For a little while at least. She’s already talking about trying to sneak out. You don’t need that distraction. If Miquel takes her, she’ll be protected by your guards too.”

All true. She caresses over my skin, but keeps her attention focused downward. “She loves him, and she’s scared. If it was you, nothing would keep me from getting to you so I could make sure you’re okay.”

I slide my fingers under her chin to lift her exquisite face. “Same here. I’d do anything to get to you.”

The smile I receive is more tentative than I anticipate. Doubt still influences her. No worries. I’ve got all the time I need to gain her confidence back. “One hour. That’s it. But please tell her in the other room because my skull can’t take her screaming.”

The truth makes her laugh. Thank fuck I’ve restored some of her happiness too.

She tips closer and gives me a slight kiss on my cheek before scampering off the bed and striding to the door. Her glance back at me over her shoulder thickens my cock again. She’s lucky I’m injured, or I’d chase her gorgeous ass down.

Addie

Ihave to swipe three times before I can see the little icons.

Chelsea makes clearing the protective screen look so easy. Actually, she makes everything she does on her phone look easy. Posting updates. Uploading videos. Facetiming friends. While I can’t even figure out how to delete the app she said is Titan’s way to track me. Grr!

“What are you huffing about over there?”

“I’m not huffing.”

Titan’s gravelly voice irritates me more. Why does he have to sound so damn sexy when I’m frustrated at him. He looks sexy too sitting at his desk like the boss he is. Although I’m glad he’s well enough to work in his office.

“Oh, okay.”

He shakes his head and chuckles before returning to his laptop. I’m astonished how calm he is. It’s been fifty-six minutes, and Chelsea still isn’t back.

He’s going to start fuming soon, and he doesn’t need that aggravation while he’s injured. He’s feeling better from the anti-nausea medicine Dr. Crawford gave him. But his pounding headache is making him pound on everyone else.

Except me.

He’s been sweet to me every time we talk. Suggestive too but I don’t think he’ll ever be able to stop doing that. I don’t think I want him to.

God, I’m as messed up as he is, and I can’t use a concussion as an excuse.

“Why do you have a tracker on my phone?”

“Because I always need to know where you are.”

Need.

Not want.

But need.

A slight difference but definitely a difference. Twisted and wrong yet I still internally swoon from the implication. He’s not the only one with something wrong in the head. “I just won’t carry it then.”
